Brakes Plus — Attraction in Tyler

First time to bring a vehicle into Brakes Plus - they were recommended by the folks at Discount Tire. Extremely well-run operation and all 3 different staff members I interfaced with were phenomenal.

After they did an initial brake inspection, they called to tell me that I needed all new rotors and pads for all 4 wheels and the price would be X dollars. After they completed the repairs (next day as the rotors/pads had to be ordered), they called to tell me the vehicle was ready and that the cost was a little more the 1/2 of the X price quoted. Tonya (I think that was her name) told me that, after the brake tech took a really good look at the rear wheels, the rotors were good and the pads were less that 50% worn so there was absolutely no need for any kind of service on those.

They could have just done the work which, although technically not dishonest - more a bit immoral. Worse (and, most definitely, dishonest) they could have SAID they did the work without having done it. In this day in age, the service this team provided was awesomely refreshing - they now have a customer for life.

Folks: any time you need brakes (or alignment, as I also had done and they also service other vehicle components), by all means go to Brakes Plus. I am 99.999% certain you will be fully pleased with...

Not even as a last resort can I recommend this place, stay as far away and spend your money literally anywhere else.

Brought in my truck to get brakes changed. About 900$ for both sets of brakes and rotors. Ok a little pricey but whatever I wanted it done. Noticed issues with truck immediately. Informed tech, told me that was normal. This was a Saturday. Drive barely any Sunday, Monday rolls around and my brakes fail completely coming to a stop. I have to swerve into the turning lane and use my parking brake to get the truck to stop. Call the shop and bring the truck back for them to fix, it was late in the day so they got me a Lyft home. Kept my truck for 2 full days while calling me consistently to tell me they didn’t know what the problem was but it was nothing they did…….how do you even know that if you don’t know what the problem is? Call me the end of the 2nd day to tell me they can’t figure it out and are taking my truck to a dealership to get fixed. For the price and headache you’re better off going to an actual dealership...

This past Saturday morning I had a wheel alignment done at Brakes Plus on South Broadway in Tyler. Through both phone and in-person interaction, the whole staff presented a trustworthy environment dedicated to customer service, competitive pricing / good value and quality work. This location is also convenient and has a clean and pleasant atmosphere. Austin (my mechanic) was easy to work with and comprehensively addressed specific detailed alignment issues above and beyond expectations and did a thoroughly detailed job. Felicia (the manager) provided a before and after alignment spec sheet at checkout. Both she and Chuck (the owner) were courteous and knowledgeable as well. I will return to this Brakes Plus location for future auto needs and highly recommend to all as it is definitely a needed asset to...
