Dear (store manager),
Today at 10:00AM I walked in to ubreakifix and I was greeted by a young woman. I said to her that I spoke to an “Indian Gentleman” the other day and this triggered her. She went off on me for about 3 minutes saying that my statement was extremely offensive and she never wanted to hear anyone say anything like that ever again. At first I attempted to defend myself but then I realized that anything I said would have just made it worse. So I stood quietly and let her berate me contemplating if I should stay or simply walk out the store, never return, and take my business elsewhere.
I am sorry, but referring to someone based on their country of origin is not offensive nor was it meant to be offensive. Some background, I lived in Russia for six years. While I lived there I was referred to as the “American Pilot”. Was I offended by this statement? No I was not. If someone finds this reference offensive ultimately it is their problem, not mine. This is the real world. Not a liberal arts college campus with a “safe space”.
Number two, I think we forgot that the customer is always right. Well, maybe not always right, but the customer should always leave the business with a smile on his or her face. Not angry, humiliated, berated, and wondering if they ever want to return, and write a nasty review on: Yelp, Google, etc….
So where to go from where. As the chief flight instructor of my flight school I would have no problem terminating someone and putting a life time ban on the individual that treated a paying customer they way I was treated. It is not worth the bad press that my company can receive on the internet on websites such as: Yelp, Google, etc… I also regret to inform you that due to the events on 15 March I can no longer patronize your business and I will be going on the internet and sharing my experience entitled “The worst customer service received ever in my life.” This includes the poor service I received the 6+ years I lived in Russia.
If a customer walks in and says something not in malice and the Customer Service Representative is offended by it, they should just bite there tongue and not stand there berating the customer, again, this is not a liberal arts college campus “safe space”, this is the real world.
Revision Recently I had two events pop up in my life. A friend asked me for a referral for an iPad repair. I didn’t have a suggestion where to go, but I did have a suggestion where not to go, you’re location. And second, I recently have since needed additional repair work on my iPad. I decided to bring it to a competing location due to the events...
Read moreI KNOW THIS REVIEW IS LONG, BUT HE EARNED IT. 5 stars just isn't enough stars for this place. I give them 12. I knew I came to the right place the day I called 2 days ago. I felt comfortable with the gentleman in the first 3 minutes of our call. I live 4 hours round trip from this place. I have two businesses and can't be without my phone for too long. I broke one of the camera lenses on my new Samsung galaxy 21. I called Samsung and they told me I would need to send them my phone to replace one of the glass lenses. That was not an option. I'm a photographer and use my new phone in places I don't want to bring my gear. I asked them if there were any other options to get my phone fixed. They spent a little time trying to find a authorized repair center. The lady finally said there is a place in Union City that has a great reputation. When I called the gentleman, I wish I knew how to spell his name, spoke with me, he knew how important my camera was he also knew how important it was for me to not be without my phone. I don't trust any place to have my phone but I could tell I could trust him. I made an appointment to drive up and drop it off for what I thought might be 3 hours. When I finally met him I told him I really needed my phone back as soon as possible. So I left and stop back by a hour later to check in incase there was any issues, not only were there no issues, he said it would be done in a couple minutes. I was ecstatic and wanted to reward him for taking such good care of me. I tried to tip him 50 dollars cash, he refused to take it so I tried to tip him 20 actually force it on him, he refused. His comment to me was ( I'm so glad you are happy with our service) I cannot say enough good things about my experience. I know how hard it is to own a business in California, and I also know how easy it is to get a bad review and not a good one. I personally think anyone needing any services this establishment has to offer is selling themselves short if they don't at least give them a call. Best wishes to you sir you earned my utmost...
Read moreupdate April/2025 After contacting corporate they mentioned that this location would provide a refund for the $50 diagnostic fee. After initially contacting the store they demanded that I come in person to refund my credit card and that there were no other options available. Yet another lie. After informing them that I could file a credit card charge back and complaint with the better business bureau, they some how magically figured out how to refund me. I had a terrible experience at uBreakiFix in Union City while getting a diagnostic for a cracked screen repair on my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The customer service was rude and dismissive, and I was hung up on twice when I questioned discrepancies in their pricing.
Diagnostic fee: $50 (paid) Screen repair estimate: $310.80 Tax (10.75%): $38.79 (Incorrect—California’s sales tax rate varies but is typically lower) Expected total after subtracting diagnostic fee: $349.59 Their total: $423.94 (which makes no sense, check image attached)
Not only did they miscalculate the total, but they insisted that if I chose to proceed with the repair, I would still have to pay the full $423.94 instead of subtracting the $50 diagnostic fee I had already paid. Additionally, the sales tax they applied was incorrect, further inflating the price. When I pointed out these issues, they repeatedly refused to explain the overcharges and hung up on me instead.
To make matters worse, they ignored my follow-up calls and started sending all calls from my number straight to voicemail. I contacted Asurion corporate, who informed me that this store is privately run but said they would take my complaint.
This business is either grossly incompetent or deliberately scamming customers by overcharging and refusing to answer basic pricing questions.
Avoid this place...
