Marriotts step child !.||I know this is a long review, but if you’re applying to stay at this property, do read |Pro’s |- private beach - lots of access to beach from multiple places |- Resort fee - includes snorkeling gear - not trip . |- Resort fee includes Westin next door pools / etc |- Private pool so less crowded . For buoy haus residents ||So here is where is this hotel completely lacks - Value equal to money. ||This property usually is ranging at $800 a night which is what I paid |Cons |- I have never stayed. At a property that is cost me so much and does not have a 24/7 Room Service. And if they don’t, it should mention mention on Marriott’s website as well as the Hotel website. - which it does not . |- All restaurants on property - Vegetarian options are not limited. They are scarce to none . I went to the only restaurant that had a vegetarian burger in four days and twice they were out of it.|- All restaurants in Property close a little before 10 - is no customer service or walkable restaurant so if you wanna have a late meal you’re hungry breakfast|- The biggest con apart from iguanas and cats around their restaurants. -SERVICE ! Don’t get me wrong the staff isn’t rude but they have no idea what service is . The stuff needs to be rotated across the globe but maybe another JW Marriott to know what an expensive hotel service feels like. |- Eg - if you wanna go somewhere but you have to come down to the hotel lobby and order a cab - which is something I should be able to do over the phone but that’s not an option|- Now, if you’re in building five, it’s a long haul to reception . I did that I got on site to take a few pictures. My cab came and left. . A hotel charging me that much would call me and tell me my cab is here. But they don’t care.. because they actually do not know what it is to the client that is paying that much per night. |- Again, an upscale property they should be serviced near the pool area . at 5 PM. The bar at the pool is closed and the other adjoining Bar refuses to come to the pool to deliver. . There isn’t enough staff to come around and ask you if you need something. And there’s literally no way that they’re trying to make this stay convenient for a guest.|- Hotel asks if they can have the chef make something for you if they don’t have the vegetarian option|- Frankly, the staff has never been to a five star property stayed or worked at a property that cost anything over 600 because if they did they would know that this property on Service is 0 out of 10 they’re nothing better than a courtyard . |- Every time you call Service desk - 1 of every 3 times . It will keep ringing no one will answer, and you’ll end up going down to the lobby. |- Oh, I forgot I went to the coffee shop at 7 AM to sit have a cup of coffee before heading out and since I’m not there for breakfast, I cannot be seated at a table .|- This property is not worth $800 a night at all and the staff would definitely benefit from going and working at other JW Marriott across the globe to know and see what a property does to make life convenient for a gas and what services is all about .|- Also, let me tell you the first to charge you $800 a night and then they charge you 5 $ per room service order - along with. 20% gratuity |- Resort whether there are no options of food to order. It is their responsibility to offer a global cuisine. |To sum it all - if you’re getting this property for anything under 400 it’s well worth the money stay and have a good time. |But if you’re gonna pay $800 or anything over 400 for this, it’s a scam. ||And the biggest scam was Room Service- my vacation was ruined because - nowhere on their website or Marriott do they mention that the room services is available only till 9:30 PM . |There is no DoorDash or Uber eats . One select and expensive property so they will not have to leave the property . It should be the responsibility of the resort to offer a global cuisine atleast a few dishes . |Without exaggeration I can tell you that I’m sorry that I chose this hotel as an option because if you do not eat meat and you have stayed at nice properties in your life. - this one you starving and disappointed ||I would do like to point out that certain employee names come to mind who was really good - including Tevin and Vicki . |But unfortunately, the property just not set up for a 5...

I stayed on this new property over Thanksgiving, Wed-Sun. I was automatically upgraded to an ocean front room, which was gorgeous. The property itself is gorgeous and has a wonderful layout. Upon arrival I was greeted with some rum punch and an amazing tour of the property. Check in was easy and everyone was so kind.

King size bed is comfortable with views of the ocean out of your balcony. Room is equipped with robes, slippers, steamer for clothes, lots of hangers, and towels. There’s also a mini fridge with drinks for purchase and snacks, prices are laid out clearly. Balcony has plenty of seats/tables.

Daily house keeping is minimal. They make the bed up, maybe wipe down counters. I did not receive any turn down service when I was out of room. First night nothing, second night someone knocked on my door at 9:16p to ask if I needed anything, third night she knocked at 8:25p, the last night they knocked around 8:16p. I think it was a little a turn down service at that point. But be mindful if you have a little, you may want to put up the do not disturb.

Water pressure in shower is good. Hot water every time I took a shower. Water pressure from the sink is not great, and also no hot water.

On the last night I decided to order room service for dinner. I used the website but it was asking for a reservation code, but didn’t work with my confirmation code I was given when I booked room. I did call the service desk and she attempted several times to call the restaurant to place an order and they were very busy. It took awhile but was fine in the end.

Pool is lovely! Swim up bar where you can order drinks and food. Lounge chairs are plentiful and comfortable including some inside the pool. Pool attendant will help with laying out towels and helping with umbrellas and such. I didn’t get waited on while sitting in my chair, which was fine but nice to be asked. There was also only one bartender at the time maybe in the busier season they do? Restroom located by pool was always clean and stocked.

Beach was nice, listening to the waves from the pool and your balcony is very nice. Crowded in the afternoons but mostly from guests using it from the Westin. They do not have access to the pool however. There are water activities like snorkel gear, SUP and a few other things, I did not use.

The resort wasn’t super busy, maybe because of the holiday? Some families with kids but overall very quiet, which is what I like and wanted.

You have full access to the Westin above. I had a massage and body treatment at their spa and it was lovely! They have a steam room, dry sauna, showers, pool and a cold plunge pool. They have a few nice restaurants and bars. I didn’t use their pools or their pool bar. They do have a rations store located include the coffee house which is fully stocked with many things. Staff up there are also amazing. And it’s a beautiful property! Even if you plan to not eat up there, the view up there is amazing day and night. It is a bit more crowded up and also louder. But getting a table for dinner was easy.

There is a flight of stairs to get to the Westin or you can take the shuttle. I mostly walked it isn’t really that bad and they aren’t steep. Bonus you get the watch the iguanas sunning themselves along the way. I did take the shuttle once though but found going up the stairs a bit easier. I was located in villa 5, closest to the stairs and pool.

I did not eat at Isla Blue, located in the lobby. I do not eat meat and they unfortunately didn’t have much for me. It was fine though, I found plenty to eat else where. Food was good everywhere and they a nice selection of drinks and cocktails.

What I liked most about the property was the ability to see the sun rise from the left and set on the right. It was amazing everyday. Walk down by the rocks between the Buoy Haus and Westin to watch the sun set.

Check out was easy and taxi arrived within a few minutes for requesting. The taxi did make a stop at Westin to pick up a few more folks. Cost between $15-18 for a...

We are checking out today after a 7-day stay. As a frequent Bonvoy guest (Ambassador level for years) I’ve stayed at quite a few Marriott properties, and all things considered this one is below par, particularly for a tropical resort.

First, the good things: the property is beautiful, right on the beach, amazing views. Lexi who checked us in was a bright ray of sunshine, and Akiri who guided us to our room was friendly and helpful. The pool was where we spent the majority of our time, and thankfully the staff (manager Margot and team Luben, Alanis, and Makesha) were consistently fantastic.

Now the not so great aspects. As others have mentioned, food service was TERRIBLE. Our very first experience at the Salt Shack: When we arrived there were two tables seated out of maybe 40, but not a staff person to be found. I wandered around until eventually I found them huddled in a staff hallway. I politely asked if it was self-seating or should I wait to be seated. One of the women said, with a tone, “There is a hostess station where you are supposed to wait.” We were eventually seated, and after maybe 15 minutes Siobhan came to take our order. (Again, there were almost no other parties dining at the time.) After another 15 minutes, she came back and said “Your food is nearly ready.” I asked her if our drink order was coming with the food? She had a surprised look, then walked to the bar area, but there was no one there. A few minutes more and she found a bartender, who then began to make our drinks. Siobhan brought them over, but mentioned they were out of straws. Food arrived, and we ate it, but it took many more minutes for the bill to arrive.

After our Salt Shack experience, we thought maybe the Westin up the hill would have better options. We went to Luna Mar one night, without a reservation, and were told it was a 45 minute wait. We went to Sugarfin instead, a sushi place, where surprisingly we were seated right away and served by the delightful and professional Destiny, who redeemed the night for us. Great food, great service.

So the next night, we made a reservation for Luna Mar, but when we arrived we were told it was STILL a 45 minute wait. With literally half the tables empty. There were a number of other couples in the same situation, so when the manager walked by we all spoke with her. She said, “Well, I can go ahead and seat you, but the kitchen is backed up so we won’t be able to serve you for a while.” She apologized for the situation, and said the hostess should not have been taking so many reservations. Umm, ok. When we eventually put our food order in, we tried to order the meatballs. But they were out. Then we tried to order the lasagna … also out. This was at 7pm … hardly the end of a long night!

I could go on … service is just bad. The housekeeping staff shout to each other all day, making it tough to spend time in the room. We were in a first-floor room, and heard lots of scraping of furniture being dragged overhead — the loud nails-on-a-chalkboard type when metal table legs are dragged across concrete. Repeatedly.

Weird items seemed to be missing from the rooms, as well. The first few nights we had coffee pods for the coffee maker, but by the middle of our stay they were only giving us decaf.

In sum, this property has great potential to be a world-class resort. Besides the service issues, I would recommend having chair-side service at the pool (rather than making people get up and go order): I would have spent a lot more if someone had come around every hour or two taking drink & food orders, as other resorts do. Have a shuttle on property that goes to town — and go ahead and charge for it! But because the property is so isolated, and the narrow and steep street is dangerous to walk, we felt kind of trapped here and ordering a taxi takes 15-20 minutes. A hotel shuttle to and from the airport would also be helpful — for a fee, of course. This property could increase service AND profit at the same time, if...
