Lane Lofts — Attraction in Upper Arlington

I wish I wasn’t leaving this review - but honestly be cautious renting from this company. Abbey personally was amazing to work with! She was friendly, empathetic, and seems to be great with connecting to future residents. Professionally, her lack of responsiveness and failure to meet self-made deadlines was more than disappointing. (I’m sure she was in a tough position where her Regional Manager, Anthony, was not quick in his responsiveness or availability).

Lane Lofts (managed by Coastal Ridge) advertised a property on their personal website and Zillow for a significantly cheaper rate than other units. This unit was able to be applied for and held with a $357 charge through their website.

It took over a week (with multiple visits from my partner and I, as well as calls) for the complex to finally give an answer on whether or not they’d honor the pricing reflected on both websites. Instead, Anthony responded, taking no ownership for the situation, and little explanation stating that they would not be honoring the rate displayed, applied for, or discussed in any conversations. Instead, we were offered the usual “Special” that is being offered to all tenants.

I was offered a refund on the application fees in full, but received no empathy from Anthony after we displayed frustrations over already paying out these fees, the lack of prioritizing, and the hard-checks to my partners and I’s credit reports. This was a week ago and I still have not received the refund.

This company is definitely utilizing a bait-and-switch tactic, which is something that Coastal Ridge has a reputation for after further reading.

I had a terrible experience trying to rent an apartment through Lane Lofts. They changed the price of the unit that I had applied for and was approved for by nearly 40%.

Then when they told me they would not honor the rental price they initially advertised and provided me (this was after I paid all the application and admin fees and they ran a credit check), they’ve sent me numerous follow-ups through their automated system telling me I owe $85.00 for who knows what and have been threatening to send me to collections. The property manager, Anthony, has assured me this is a mistake and has been taken care of numerous times, yet today I received a “final notice” that if I don’t pay that the balance will be sent to collections, further affecting my credit.

I’ve never had such a negative experience trying to rent from a property. The lack of communication and follow-up has been abysmal. On top of the initial change of the rent rate they advertised and approved me for being a textbook bait and switch after my partner and I had sent them a few hundred dollars of application and admin fees.

I put off writing this review because they assured me multiple times this would be taken care of and I wanted to take the high road, but as this has continued to drag out for 2 months I feel like I wasn’t left with any other options than to warn others...

My husband and I recently moved to Lane Lofts, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. The location on W Lane Ave is fantastic, providing easy access to everything we need. The property itself is peaceful, comfortable, and exceptionally well-maintained.

Special thanks to Danny and Colter from the maintenance team, who have been quick and thorough in addressing our move-in needs—and they’re both wonderfully dog-friendly! We also want to thank Nick and LeAnna in the leasing office for their exceptional professionalism and hospitality. They’ve gone above and beyond to make our transition smooth and stress-free.

When we were searching for a new apartment, reviews played a big role in our decision to visit Lane Lofts, and we’re so glad we did. We’ve been thrilled with our experience here.
