Flippers Dolphin Tours — Attraction in Upper Grand Lagoon

We drove 1 1/2 hours from Port St. Joe for the guided Jet Ski Dolphin tour. The check-in process was very quick and smooth. The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. They have some smaller, but very clean bathrooms onsite and were building a new larger building when we visited August 2023. Ethan was our guide and did a phenomenal job, he worked with the riders that needed help but was still able to make it exciting and fast paced for everyone else. We only saw 2 dolphins one time as we headed out and that was it so if you are looking for a dolphin experience you may or may not get lucky. The website lists Sand Dollar and Starfish find, but we didn't do either of those. Shell island was now what we expected. We walked across the boardwalk to the gulf side, which takes 5-6 minutes unless you don't wear shoes, then it goes quicker as you run to try not to burn your feet. Ethan did warn everyone about wearing shoes and offered to take pictures of our groups. Shell island itself was pretty shell-less, there are smaller one inch shells like you can find at almost every beach, so if you want to find bigger shells this isn't the tour for you. If you are looking for a fast-paced guided jet ski ride, it was great and that's why I gave it five stars. I did a lot of looking through these tours. We are in PCB for vacation and wanted to find the right tour for the best value. Came across Flippers and read reviews as well as checking pricing. Pulled the trigger based on small group size, price and reviews. Check in was quick and easy and Capt. Jon escorted us to our boat. My daughter really wanted to see dolphins but our first few locations didn't work out, but we pushed forward on the tour and the snorkeling was amazing. Capt. Jon made sure we had a great experience and guided us to shell island for another quick snorkel stop and a walk to the Gulf side of the island. We were the only people there and it was amazing. We headed back to the boat and Capt. Jon really gave his all to make sure we had a great experience by pushing our time limit to the max and taking a little extra trip in the lagoon to try to see the dolphins. Let me first say that this company is AWESOME. I first took the jet ski dolphin tour, and was disappointed. If you are very experienced with jet skis, snorkeling and swimming you will have more fun. The guide led our group at full throttle nearly the whole tour, and could have been more attentive. we did see glimpses of dolphins but they moved way too fast to get close, much less in the water with them. It was VERY high-impact (ouch). The stop at shell island was nice. choose this tour more for speed than dolphins.

When the owners learned that i was unhappy, they suggested the boat tour instead because my satisfaction was very important to them. That made a great impression on me, and I would definitely take tours with them again. The boat tour was perfect! A little bit of speed, beautiful scenery and dolphins! I got nose to nose with them several times and even got to touch one. And then we had a wonderful, peaceful time snorkeling, collecting shells and sand dollars.
