They sell defective plumbing parts. They gave me such a hard time when I requested an exchange of an opened part that was defective. It was within 30 days of purchase. The first thing the manager asked me was how he was to know I was not lying about buying the part there; even though the clerk found the purchase on the computer. That started off a negative chain of events. I had to call corporate and they finally got them to honor the request while in the store but not until I had been harassed by a young employee asking me " don't you have anything better to do, it's 11$", and "there is another ace hardware store down the road, go there" Why wasn't he working instead of harassing a customer? I was stared down by the Manager for like 45 seconds. I'd look away and he just kept staring. ( his poor attempt to get me to engage, I believe. ). The young worker just kept making comments to me. So the kicker is I get home and the new part is also defective. Make in Tiawan. Junk!!!. The store is way overpriced and when there is a problem with a plumbing part and you need help the manager says " how do I know it is defective, I'm not a Plummer". TRUST ME, it is so worth the time to travel a little farther or in the other direction to take care of...
Read moreI have shopped at this store since 1983. Today, I tried to return a sink stopper for 3.49 which was part of a 33.12 purchase. I had opened it to check the size and it didn't fit. I kept the other one which was the right size along with everything else in the order. Because the package was opened it needed to be checked by Chris who said was it used and has to make a study the package. I said no and he said then why did you open it? So Chris just assumes that someone who bought two stoppers and 31.00 of other merchandise is trying to rip off Strathmann ACE. They just lost a two customers from this household. For anyone reading this, try the ACE in Newtown in the Goodnoe shopping center it is well organized, well stocked, the personnel is helpful and you don't get a third degree when you try to return something. Its not as convenient for us but it a much better experience. Read moreWhile getting a Christmas gift, my mom noticed they had a sale on a particular item. Upon arrival, we asked for the price we saw online only to be told it has to be a pickup order to get that price, which is totally fine! What is not fine, was the rude attitude we got from staff for simply placing the order to get said deal. We were told it would take only a couple minutes to process and we ended up waiting 45 minutes and it still did not process. Edie, the manager, was extremely short and rude with us along with the cashier (couldn’t see her name because she was covering it). When Edie had to call a manager above her, Karen, the cashier loudly snickered at both of us. Karen was just as short, if not more, making both of us feel like we were wrong by just simply wanting a deal on a cooler!
