I am extremely disappointed with the Venice Art Center, and I would not recommend it if you expect professionalism. I was very excited to sign up for the Wed. evening pottery class, in fact I was planning on taking all of them, so on October 24 I payed for a membership and a class. I received an email from Paypal (pictured) and nothing else. Weeks went by and still no receipt or welcome email from the art center. I thought, “Okay, maybe I’ll learn all I need to know on the first day of class.” But I ended up missing the first day of class (I booked over it), and after spending yesterday sick and wanting to rest today, I realized I’d miss today’s class too, so I called to ask if I could switch to the next round of 6 classes since I’d missed two. I didn’t receive any sort of email or call saying that there’d be an issue with me missing a class. To my surprise, I was told that I could be refunded a Venice Art Center gift card for four classes and pay for the other two because I’d lost my spot. I hung up on the manager to think about it, then I called back just to be sure I’d understood correctly. I asked if the next round of classes was full. She told me there’s only one person signed up for it. She also told me I should’ve gotten an email receipt with a supplies list and the refund policy...I got none of that. In fact, when she recited my email over the phone she started with an “L” instead of an “I”. So not only was I not warned about this policy, in which case I would understand, they couldn’t even make a tiny exception with a class that isn’t even a quarter full. And you can see in the email sent to me today that now I'm being told about this policy. It’s absolutely ridiculous and I have no intention of using the gift card mailed to me. That’s $100+ wasted and god knows I’m extremely unhappy about it. I was so very excited to try my hand at the wheel again, but that’s out the window. I do not recommend the Venice Art Center. Find...
Read moreI enjoyed entrusting my son's artistic development to Mrs. Laura McElhinney during his participation in the Venice Art Center Summer camp. From the moment he joined her classes, it was evident that she possessed a genuine passion for art and a deep understanding of nurturing young artistic minds. Mrs. McElhinney's expertise in various art forms was awe-inspiring. In the Mix Media class, my son explored different creative techniques and discovered how to combine mediums for visually striking artworks. In the Mini Monet class, Mrs. McElhinney beautifully conveyed the essence of impressionism, inspiring her students to create their interpretations. She fostered a supportive and inclusive environment, providing individual attention and encouraging artistic growth. Her organizational skills and attention to detail ensured smooth classes, and her genuine interest in her students' well-being created a sense of community. I wholeheartedly recommend Mrs. McElhinney as an exceptional art teacher who profoundly impacted my son's...
Read moreMy son, Milosz Gasior, a pianist, performed at the Venice Art Center with an award winning singer and violinist Maya Mazur (@soundsgood4you) during an event for philanthropists. The room has art on the walls, and a medium Baldwin piano (tuned) in the front left corner. The live music added so much beauty to the event. It was truly a special evening. The staff was kind, professional, and helpful. I highly recommend this place for a...
