We've been coming to Venice to see my parents for 40 years, and have always admired the frontage of this building while walking, and that's where it ended. But in fact, for my Dad's 99 birthday celebration last week, we had an opportunity to go beyond the frontage! My brother /wife and husband and I decided to try the Banyan House since it was around the corner from Dad's. From the moment we pulled up, cheerful, professional Deanna runs out to greet us! We found over the next 3 days, what a fabulous manager she is! The recent owners, Rosie & Bret are loving what they're doing, and they make you feel that way too! The building, dating back to 1926 is a charming, airy step back in time. The upstairs has 6 questrooms, some with porches, fireplace and kitchens. We stayed in the Palm. And what a room! Covered porch looking into the banyan tree! (gift of Thomas Edison). Gas fireplace and a beautiful kingsize bed, lots of light, large bathroom, & good temp controls. The beautiful, Zen-like garden area will instantly relax you, with the friendliest koi I've ever seen, in a pond with a waterfall, a babbling brook, palms and ferns, flowers and sculpture, and chairs to sit a spell. The first pool in Venice a bit elevated for drama. Coffee, tea available all day with snacks fit the bill while sitting in the gardens. Rosie and Deanna are in and out, asking if we need anything, chatting a bit and keeping everything in order. Again, with the most genuinely, pleasant nature. With the pool, hot tub, billiards room, small workout room, gardens, bedrooms that do not disappoint since they have thought of everything anyone would need, relaxing common rooms to chat with others, delightful owners and manager, and impeccable cleanliness, I can't think of one negative about this place. We'll be back to this Tropical...
Read moreWe recently spent 3 fabulous days at the Banyon House in Venice Florida. The room was absolutely beautiful and sparkling clean. We stayed in the Palm room. Very roomy with a King size bed and small table and chairs (large TV); gorgeous large bathroom with fluffy towels and cool lighting; the kitchenette was fully equipped with anything and everything you could possible need; we had a large deck right across from the most beautiful banyon tree I’ve ever seen and overlooking the pool and garden area. A bonus was a full-size coffee pot and all kinds of snacks in the kitchenette. They offer a very nice Continental breakfast downstairs in the day room…. with fresh bakery goods that I just loved (those croissants!!), along with fruit, oatmeal, all kinds of breakfast drinks, etc. We usually took some biscotti or muffins up to our room in the evening to have with our early morning coffee upstairs before we went down to have their continental breakfast.
We liked sitting on the swing under the banyon tree and enjoying the peaceful environment. The garden and koi pond are such an asset to this beautiful property. We also loved hanging out in the pool. They supply noodles, beach towels, etc. There are lots of games/books in the day room if you prefer to stay indoors. Downtown Venice is 5 minutes away. We did not go to the beach, but it is also close by.
The owners, Rosie and Bret are super nice folks and very accommodating. It was fun to get to get to know them and visit with them. The same with the manager, Deanna. All lovely people who made us feel very welcome. We felt like friends when we left. This was our first visit to the Banyon House. We found it on-line and what a find it was! Guess what? We are going back next year….same...
