Mission Cafe & Coffee — Restaurant in Venice

I just don't even understand the 5* ratings I see here. We stopped Sunday after 10 a m. Yes a coffee shop that opens after 10. We ordered a small latte with oat milk, a banana strawberry smoothie, based on price of $10 must have been a large (see photo as I have no idea how a smaller cup would be offered), and two sandwiches with an egg, Avocado and piece of bacon. Gluten free bread requested, however per order ticket once it came out- whole grain. Payment $46.35....Yes, really??!! Ordered in to go containers because there are three, yes three tables outside. We eat breakfast out regularly and coffee out 4+ times per week and have never paid this for what we received. The sandwiches were small, with no fresh herbs or anything special. The smoothie was simple and the coffee had no hint of an embellishment such as lavender or a cocoa sprinkle. Last weekend we were in St Pete-- google menu items and photos at Craft Kafe St Pete, totally gluten free in the heart of downtown, or Hollander House Restaurant St Pete, the quality and value doesn't compare. I mostly blame myself, as once we were rung up and the total announced$46+ before adding my 20% Tip taking me to $56, I should have merely said, "No thank you please cancel the order. " I guess I expected it to come out amazing- no remember it was to-go, so I retrieved it. Of course my 20% Tip was I guess so they could prepare it and call my name. I'm going to attribute the 5* I see here to peeps being giddy while on vacation. Plenty of other options and we'll all wonder why an organic coffee shop...

On my first visit, I opted for the Kale salad, which was a generous serving of hearty greens, perfect for fulfilling my nutritional needs. While the kale was fresh and flavorful, a suggestion for improvement would be to lightly rub it with olive oil to soften it and enhance the overall eating experience. Throughout my two visits, I had the opportunity to try five different meals, and each one exceeded my expectations. The variety and quality of dishes offered showcase the cafe's commitment to providing delicious and nutritious options for its patrons.

I recently had an unpleasant encounter with an employee named Joe at Mission Cafe & Coffee. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Joe's demeanor was both rude and incredibly creepy, making my visit to the establishment quite uncomfortable.

From the moment I approached the counter, Joe exhibited an unwelcoming attitude. His interactions were marked by dismissiveness and impatience, leaving me feeling unwelcome as a customer. However, what truly stood out was Joe's inappropriate behavior, which crossed the line into creepiness. He made inappropriate comments and gestures that made me feel uneasy and unsafe in the cafe.

As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, neither of which I received from Joe. His behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable for someone in a customer-facing role. It's disheartening to encounter such behavior in what should be a welcoming environment.
