There is an unimpressive level of customer service exhibited by the staff. As someone who enjoys thrift shopping, it's disappointing to encounter such a lack of basic courtesy. It almost feels as if the staff is unaware of the presence of customers, with no friendly "hello" extended at any point.
Throughout my visits, I find myself in the way of employees who seem completely indifferent to myself and other customers as they stock shelves or reach for items in front of me without a polite "excuse me" or any acknowledgment whatsoever.
Equally dismaying is the apparent lack of gratitude. Not once during my visits here have I been thanked for making a purchase.
Adding to my frustration is the issue of overpricing. The choice to set high prices on donated items takes away from the essence of thrift shopping. Thrift stores are traditionally known for offering affordable and unique items, but the steep prices I encountered here were more in line with regular retail stores. It's disheartening to see secondhand items priced in such a greedy manner.
For example: $10 for a Shein shirt. Dearest St Vincent's of Verona, have you looked on Shein? That is more than that tissue paper of a shirt cost originally.
I sincerely hope that the management takes these concerns to heart and takes steps to address these...
Read moreI visit here frequently. A well organized, well priced, and clean store. The Madison area SVDP stores are excellent. It's like a positive feedback loop because of the community we are in: We have more community/environmentally minded people looking to donate and wealthier people donating better items, making better stores, drawing more people of more incomes to shop & donate, which means more resources for SVDP to become even better. Some select items are a bit higher priced, but get marked down eventually. I actually appreciate this, because the most interesting & valuable items are still a deal, but don't immediately get sold. I see several reviews writing off the whole store because ONE employee was rude, ONE item was overpriced, or because rules that apply to everyone were applied to you. Have some gratitude for the service they offer, and remember they are first and foremost a charity trying to provide community assistance and job...
Read moreWay over priced!! I used to shop here always found good deals. Now I have noticed a huge price increase over the last year, especially for clothing. You can get new items cheaper at a regular store than used at St. Vinny's. I saw an old pair of Old Navy jeans there for $12. I just bought a new pair of Old Navy jeans for $8. Yes the money they make goes to charity. At the same time thrift stores provide a charity for it's customers when they shop because prices are affordable. Unfortunately their prices no longer provide a charitable shopping experience. Just because it's Under Armour or Gap doesn't mean it should cost $20. If it's used or worn price it for the condition it's in not the brand. It's a donation and should be priced accordingly for thrift and charity. I now shop at other thrift stores that have more...
