Update: December 13th 2024. 1 of 2 pools closed again. Again, the website doesnât reflect breakdown, making people think they have a reservation but with half the lanes available, there are no lanes. One shows up and may have to leave because one canât wait to fit into a later schedule. âCircle swimmingâ is becoming a bad option. If one is serious about swimming for health/exercise, this club may not be for you. Perhaps the $ bottom line may be the issue to properly fix the problem. This is chronic. Additionally, since the Genesis website lane reservation system started, lifeguards canât see the reservations and donât know what is going on. Lifeguards are using pen and paper to take names and telling me they donât know if I have a reservation. When lap lane reservations are REQUIRED, why ask members to make the reservation when the lifeguards at pool continue to say they âsee nothingâ about the reservations. Update: Another three days and the pump is still broken in one pool and there are three people including myself with a swim reservation made online but no lap lane, in part because a paid for swim lesson is taking up a full lane, and swim lessons take preceence over lap swim reservations. No one knows at the front desk when the broken pool will be open. The response is "Sorry." In the past several months, in particular the past two months, the deep pool has been broken. A pump issue that seems not to get fixed. One canât tell when making a lap lane reservation whether by phone and now the new Genesis Health Club lap lane reservation system. Both pools are lovely but the maintenance is questionable. Iâve arrived and thereâs no lane because all lanes are doubled up and I apparently was able to make a reservation. Whatâs going on? I only come for swimming so Iâm not going to leave and exercise elsewhere at the gym and return. Also the womenâs steam room is chronically broken, meaning about every six weeks? Itâs then shut for a couple of days. Womenâs shower also has had a broken stall for possibly six weeks. Didnât want to complain but after poor pool maintenance I...
Read moreThe buyout by Genesis didn't help this sinking Leviathan any. In just 6 months things went noticeably downhill, so much so that I cancelled my membership. If you're thinking of joining the gym ask for a trial and check out these things: All of the Precor Ellipticals have issues be it broken arm pieces, a hitch in the lower body element, or both. Water fountains all spit room temperature water, cooling elements are broken. Other members leave the gym a mess and in all the time I was there I only ever saw 1 staff member tidying up and putting equipment back that members left out. I watched people everyday pull balls, steps, etc to use for 5 seconds and then just leave it in the middle of the floor. No one unracks the machines, ever and no one is held accountable so it just continues to get worse and worse. -Some of the trainers are kind of rude, some are great. I was recovering from a neuro issue that affects my balance and one trainer would roll her eyes watching me workout. Research in to Genesis Health Clubs is not impressive. I encourage people to look in to that before joining. Lockers were redone to have built in locks so you can no longer use your own lock. It's a 4 number code you set each time- however whenever you unlock your locker anyone near you can easily see your code so don't plan on using the same code. Also- They don't work perfectly and everyday I saw people having to get staff to let them in their lockers when they got locked out. -Incredibly cheap ammenities. Like soap shampoo etc. I don't expect high end but for $120/month plus yearly money grab I'd expect handsoap that doesn't melt my skin. -Stuff not clubs fault: Lots of teens who hog machines and scroll their phones for 10 minutes between sets. But kind of clubs fault for not letting members know not to do that. Lots of women wear tons of perfume which was frankly nauseating. Women often came in to the sauna in their sweaty workout clothes or, my favorite, would bring their stuff in to the sauna after their shower to lotion up (eww) and get dressed.
Pros: Cleaning staff were super friendly and did...
Read moreI almost donât want to write this review because I want to keep this place all to myself. Iâm a swimmer and any swimmer knows how hard it is to find a decent pool. This place has two saltwater lap pools! One with a deep end. Not in a dingy basement somewhere: in a palatial space with super high ceilings and big windows. Itâs glorious. Moving back up here from the city itâs just such a luxury. I was used to swimming five in a lane in an overchlorinated cloudy puddle. Youâd literally have to be a billionaire to swim in an equivalent pool in NYC. Honestly Iâve looked at a lot of listings for the most expensive apartments in the world just for fun and a lot of them have pools that arenât as nice as this if youâre a real swimmer. They even have a drop in nursery that is super cheap so if you have kiddos you can drop them off and get in a workout. The rest of the gym looks nice enough. Please donât come swim here. Lots of times when I come late at night I have the whole pool to myself and I donât want to share it...
