I really like our library especially after the addition of the kids wing several years ago.
There are several comfortable chairs and tables to sit at. My kids usually go over to the kids section and I sit in the other part of the library at the comfy chairs.
I have never needed to use the computers so I usually just check out books.
The kids section is great. They have computers which appeal to the younger crowd, And there are lots of activities you can sign up for to attend after school. I have not taken for advantage of all of these activities but we have enjoyed going to the l library for shows during the summer and have attended a few STEM clubs.
There’s also a section that has books for sale. They are very cheap and there is a box you can put change in to pay for them. I have gotten several books for my kids that they have enjoyed and then passed along to other families.
There seem to be several comments about the homeless. Yes they tend to congregate around the library. There are a lot of shady trees and they seem to rest underneath them. Today I forgot the library was closed and there were several homeless people hanging out by the entrance. When we walked up they were very nice and told us the library was closed. They seem to be chatting and playing cards.
I have never felt unsafe or threatened well in the library with my kids. We really enjoy...
Read moreWonderfully large selection of literature, getting my Library card was one of the smoothest processes I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with in a long time and I’m really grateful for the staff that was able to process and get me a card in what took less than 6 minutes.
The only complaint I have is there seems to be a large population of homeless in the area that are often begging for money or try to get your attention. When I went there was a homeless lady loudly complaining about the process of getting her library card to use the computers which was just plainly disrespectful, as the staff was only telling her what she needed to do to access the computers as part of their job.
I do have a question which is how strict the library is on animals as I do not have a vehicle and feel very unsafe walking in Main Street without my dog as a young woman and I would like to be able to go to the library without having to get escorted there. I haven’t been able to go back to the library and check out any books since getting my library card because of being worried of having to leave my dog outside in such an unsafe environment and I highly worry that my dog may be stolen if I have to leave her outside while I look for a book. Is there any way for me to check out books online and have them handed to me outside where I won’t be told to leave...
Read moreGreat selection of books and movies. Also love that they can order books and movies they don't have from other libraries. They also have a nice computer area as well. However, I agree with other reviewers about the staff. They do not seem very happy when you ask for help, one lady at the reference desk was very unhelpful, did not answer my questions, nor did she bother to tell me that one title I wanted was not in the library system. When I complained about this to a supervisor, she listened and empathized but looked unhappy the whole time I was talking, never smiling once. The only one who I enjoy getting help from is Jonathan, who sometimes works at the reference desk. He is friendly, and knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the patrons and helping them. However, he is very hit and miss, sometimes at the reference desk, other times not. Know that if he is there he is the guy you want helping you. Others at the reference desk, as well as the check out counter are rude and don't seem like they want...
