I was in Visalia and checked out "GameQore" The store has a nice set up showing off nice eye catching items in the windows. When you walk in you'll immediately notice that the store is split between table-top gaming & card gaming and retro classic video gaming. This review will focus on the video gaming. 1. There's a small assortment of selection of CIB (Complete in box) games ranging from various systems. There's a nice old school Nintendo display Kiosk that has loose NES/SNES games. The glass case has a few more titles though at this tie of the review not much was eye catching. (Old Sega Sports games mostly). 2. There's quite a bit of 3rd party controllers, cords, etc on the wall. Just a word of caution be cautious of these 3rd party controllers they're fine for occasional casual play but won't hold up for daily heavy play definitely avoid the Cirka Gamecube controllers those are trash in all honesty. Spend more on the OEM (original equipment manufacture) controllers if their available. 3. There's quite a large selection of loose discs for a variety of systems this is nice because of the fair price and for the amount of games available. If you're in Visalia check out GameQore, the retro game section is growing and worth seeing. I'll definitely be back.

Game Qore - A small, rustic gem in the center of old Visalia I have visited Game Qore many times over the last decade as I work in cities nearby. Upon first entry, you will learn one thing - the staff is there to help you! I personally play Magic the Gathering and love that, if you come in with a list of cards you want, the friendly staff will look those cards up and help you find them - from Bulk to Mythic! I have visited dozens of game stores accross the country. Many fail to maintain a reasonable collection, a clean environment, and friendly staff. To this extent, Game Qore has you solid, trying to equally support all card games and TTRPGs while keeping things clean and organized. While it looks like the store is on the cusp of making some big changes to help their community, I have no doubt they will continue to supply guests with a relaxing environment to play and collect MtG. All the more important for people like myself who only have a few days a month to take a Ranger break and visit their local game store.

I stumbled upon this shop rather unexpectedly -- and boy am I glad I did! Since moving, I've been without my regular tabletop game supplier (I'm a D&D player & DM). That is, until today! On top of their wide selection of books/dice/minis/cards, excellent decor, and friendly & informative staff, they also sell classic video games and consoles. I'm talking NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Playstation (1)... And since I'm a collector of old games, I guarantee this will be my one-stop shop for (old) video games and tabletop games. I'm already planning on having my friends come stay with me just so we can shop here a while!

My husband loves Magic and my daughter loves Pokémon. My knowledge of Pokémon doesn't go beyond the 1995 show (which I loved as a kid). My kid is 8 and she loves Pokémon, she can hold a conversation about the cards, Pokémon types, history of and just fun facts about Pokémon. When she is interested in something she immerses herself in it. I saw this place and was excited because they sell single cards and my daughter has a large collection so I knew they may have something she wanted but has not gotten in a booster pack. I took her and she was so excited. The store is pretty cool, very different from the corporate places I've been in. The staff is super nice but our interaction with one is the reason why this is a 4 star review. I felt that the person that helped us was impatient with my daughter. She takes her time when looking at everything. She's very methodical. I didn't ask for help by the way, he just was waiting on us. My daughter was taking her time looking and he suggested maybe getting a booster pack instead. Then I guess saw someone he knew and proceeded to take multiple cards, that my daughter was looking at, to show this person that just walked in. Like I'd understand if the guy was there looking as well but my daughter seemed to be brushed off as just a kid looking for cool cards. This is a missed opportunity. She is the next generation and a girl in a male dominated world of gaming. She is often discouraged by the marketing that seems to leave her out. He didn't have to hold a conversation or anything with her but simple words go a long way. The guy at checkout just told her the cards were cool choices and it made her happy. Super simple words but they mattered to her. My daughter wants to go back because it definitely didn't discourage her but I just wanted to bring this to their attention for future interactions...

It feels like they are only in business because they are the only store in Visalia.

I've been to a lot of game stores, but here they don't really put the 'Friendly' into Friendly Local Game Store. Every time we are in there, unless directly helping a customer, it always seems like all of the employees are just hanging out. Which is weird because they literally have boxes of miniatures sitting on the floor.

Their community also seems not that great. Have been told by multiple employees they have a great D&D game that anyone can join, but every time I've gone in the group has started 15 minutes before the time they say, ignored everyone who wasn't already in their group and doesn't feel like a game people can actually go in and join.

My girlfriend also has had the employees stare at her and watch her around the store and they make her uncomfortable. There have been time I have attended an event and she was in the front of the store and they have come up to her asking "do you know what system that is for" despite us having been in multiple times and having talked to them about the systems. Really just fitting the stereotype of gatekeeping and acting like women don't know about games.

In a vacuum, having a game store is better than not having a game store in town. But I'm much more likely to drive 30-45 minutes to Hanford or Fresno for a game store where I actually feel welcomed and a part of...
