Originally this review was about the company policies and not the store itself, but based on the manager's response, their employees will lie and refuse to honor their own advertised price in order to manipulate you.
Went in to purchase ink for my job, which is literally the only time I ever go into an Office Depot, and this occurs only once or twice a year. Their prices are already much higher than anywhere else, so it's really a last-resort kind of store. I checked online ahead of time to make sure the ink I needed was in-stock. It showed in-stock and listed for $24.99. When I arrived at the store I noticed the price was actually 25% more, tagged at $30.99. I wasn't bothered, sure that the cashier would honor the price and expected it was just an old tag that had not been changed. This was not the case. Apparently Office Depot uses completely false advertising to get you in the door, then attempts to sell a membership signup in order to actually get the price listed online. This company would risk losing sales and leverage their own customers time, not wanting to drive all the way to another store or wait for Amazon, in order to get your information or gouge you on the price. They are blatantly lying to their own customers, which I find extremely disrespectful. This might even go against Weights and Measures laws which are there to keep business from misleading customers. I was only buying one item, so I paid the extra $6 and left, but I can't imagine how frustrating this must be when you have shopped for multiple items. I will not be returning again.
If the owner's response is true, then the cashier lied in order to try and get a membership, in which case their staff cannot be trusted and this behavior should...
Read moreI received an email that my order was ready for curbside pickup. I arrived and used the button on my email to let them know I was there but no one ever came out. I finally went in to the print pick-up desk, which is where my email directed me, and was told by the clerk that he didn't have anything under my name and I need to look at the online pick-ups "over there" by the wall. Nothing was there for me either and he just literally shrugged his shoulder and told me he didn't have it. His tone of voice and complete lack of any evidence of caring at all topped off a very difficult day for me. My brother had died two days prior and this order was for the programs for his funeral. I asked to speak to a manager and he just pointed across the floor and said to me, "They're over there. Get them yourself." The manager never apologized but did come to look for the order, which he could not find either. Finally another clerk came up and did offer apologies and condolences and offered to reprint the order, which I can only assume had gotten sent out the door with...
Read moreNever again. I purchased a bundle package that included a laptop, security, and tech support. It took an hour for them to figure out how to ring up a bundle. I returned the unused items a week later and it took longer than an hour to figure out out to ring up my credit. Today is 47 days since the return and i still don’t have a $130 credit for the tech support. I have called several times and 3 of those times i was told everything was fine now and I should have my refund 7-10 days. Still NOTHING! I was also told 3 times that a email would be sent directly to tech support for an update and i should hear from them within 24 hours. Still NOTHING! I will never go...
