Youâd think when a fan starts making noise and shaking your rig like itâs trying to take flight, a shop called UbreakIfixit would be the right place to go. After all, Iâve been there before, and Heather, the absolute professional who usually runs the show, has always been quick, sharp, and right on the money with her diagnostics. Sheâs the reason I ever came back.
But this time, Heather was out sick, and let me tell you, it showed.
Instead of the usual experience, I was met with confusion, delays, and ultimately, a mistake that cost me $200. Jacob was the one helping me. Nice enough, sure. Told me which fan to buy and mentioned how cheap they were at Best Buy. Great. Thatâs what I needed. But then, for reasons still unknown to me, he decided to pull my RAM out and âreseat it more effectively.â I didnât ask for that. There wasnât an issue with my RAM. But hey, maybe he thought he was doing me a favor.
I take his advice, buy the fan, install it myself, everything lights up. But a couple minutes later, I notice the keyboardâs dead, the monitors are blank, and Iâm staring at a computer thatâs as unresponsive as UbreakIfixitâs quality control.
Since this machine is essential for my daily operations, I had no choice but to take it to Best Buyâs Geek Squad. After a few days without my PC and more than a little anxiety they call me back. The verdict? The RAM wasnât seated properly. Thatâs it. The fix took five seconds. The bill was $200. And the cause was a technician at UbreakIfixit who fiddled with something that wasnât broken.
So just to recap: I walked in with a fan problem. I walked out with a bill for a completely unrelated fix caused by the very people who were supposed to be helping. And I pay for Best Buyâs Geek Squad program every year, which makes the whole thing feel like paying twice to solve a problem I never had, thanks to someone elseâs mistake.
Hereâs the kicker: if Heather hadnât been out sick that day, this never wouldâve happened. Sheâs the only reason Iâve ever trusted that place. Without her? You might as well rename the shop...
Read moreMy wife's Iphone 14 was completely frozen both the screen and physical buttons for more than one day. After doing my own research and trying all the fixes recommended, many times, nothing helped. uBreakiFix was close by and conveniently open even on a Sunday afternoon. We walked in an after a very short wait were helped by a very nice gentlemen who tried pretty much the same things as I had, again with no success. He then took the phone in the back where there was another tech and in what seemed like less then a minute was back out and handed me the phone and it was working as good as new. He said they basically did the same recommended reset again and three days later the phone is still working like new. No Charge. My point of this review is, I am almost 80 years old and if the tech had come back out and said yes, we can fix your phone, come back in an hour and it will be 50 or even 100 dollars to repair, I would have probably gladly paid it. Hopefully I won't need them again any time soon but uBreakiFix's honesty and integrity has definitely earned by...
Read moreThe quality of service was lacking. I sent my phone to have the factory installed screen protector replaced due to it beginning to peal. Upon return I noticed several specks under the screen and an edge that wasn't down completely, also the whole screen protector was off center. When speaking with the store manager it was discovered that the store doesn't even take precautions to insure the area where the protector is being put on at is clean. Also, when returned they stated the hinge on my phone was off. This was never noticed before. Also I did receive previous repairs from this company to repair the battery. I now call into question the quality of those repairs. If they are unable to put on a simple screen protector correctly, what is the likelihood they damaged the hinge themselves when opening it up and replacing...
