The decor catches your eye when you first walk in, it's awesome. Pricing is fair at $3 per 15 minutes and you don't have to pay for children under a certain age. I only gave 3 stars because there were a few games glitching or didn't work at all. The games are unlocked for free play so no quarters or cards needed on top of cover charge. Some of the arcade machines are unlocked with multiple old school nes, super nes, game boy, game cube, sega and N64 games so plan to spend some time.

Took our nephews here because they were visiting from put of state and were upset that it was too hot to play outside. They LOVED it and they had so much fun!! The best part is that we loved playing the games with them! It was affordable and clean and we will definitely be bringing them here again when they come back to visit.

When I first saw this place, I was really excited to discover a new arcade. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. I'm in my mid-30's and grew up in the time when arcades and arcade games were all over the place. This place misses the mark on everything that made arcade gaming so fun.

The problems boil down to just a few big things..

Almost every machine is a generic emulation box. None of the games have their dedicated hardware or controls, so almost all of them feel "off". The essence of what makes individual arcade games feel good is completely gone.

They almost surely don't have the rights to use the games in the machines. I know not everyone cares about digital property rights, but everyone can appreciate that taking something from someone for free and charging other people to use it is seedy. If you don't care about property rights, you can download all of these games and play them at home for free anyway.

They paid almost no attention to the presentation of the games and instead tried to just cram as many as they could onto the machine. How often are people coming in to play Sega CD point and click games in an arcade? Never. But you still have to navigate around those barely playable games and through hundreds of others to find something worth playing.

Overall I would highly recommend avoiding this place. Even the name...

Overall a very good experience! Most of the cabinets were working, and in good condition, though a couple were out of order. Star Wars Arcade could use a tune-up or replacement on its monitor - it's pretty dark to the point where visibility is impacted, especially if you're going for a full trilogy playthrough.

As a Dance Dance Revolution aficionado, I was delighted to see that the DDR Extreme cabinet feels perfectly tuned, with all four foot pads on the left side (didn't try the right) feeling fully responsive and on time with the monitor. The monitor itself is a BIT spotty but not in any way that impacted playability for me. I also appreciate the cabinet's placement in the corner by the front window - it's a point of visual appeal for incoming or potential customers, and it gives left-side players an extra spot to lean their arm besides the rear bar. One point of feedback I DO have regarding the DDR cabinet placement is that it's positioned directly across from a very noisy Terminator Salvation cabinet - and the shooting sounds can drown out the music coming from the DDR speakers if both are played simultaneously. I suggest either turning up the volume on the DDR cab, or if it cannot be adjusted any higher, turning down the volume on the Terminator...

For the past several months our organization has had activities at The Game is Afoot. Before stumbling across this place, I did not know high quality arcades like this still existed in this area! Our experiences here have been fantastic. The place is clean, the games are extremely varied, and the staff are as friendly as friendly can be. With pizza and ice cream places to either side, a theater across the way, and plenty of close by restaurants, this is a great way to spend the evening or a great addition to any evening plans you might already have.

As someone who wants to see the Game is Afoot excel for years to come admittedly so I can selfishly have an awesome place to play games!, please please please check this place out if you have even the slightest piqued interest, you won't be...
