I was extremely excited to take my employees on a trail ride here, we emailed back and forth with who I believe is the owner, Lee. All was well until we had a phone call with her. We gave our weights and heights, I am a plus sized rider but carry my weight well on a horse and am 5’11 (mind you, I have experience riding, ride multiple times a week on a 15.2 Tennessee walker and 16.3 ish-17 hand draft, show, and own my own horse). Saying this, I completely understand if places have weight limits and I respect their decisions as they are their horses and I get wanting to protect them! I typically say thank you and move on to looking for alternative places when going on trail rides. Unfortunately this was not the case with this barn. They did not have their weight limit listed on their website (which I would really recommend any trail riding business to list to save us plus sized riders the embarrassment and let down of having to call so many places, disclose our sensitive and personal information to a stranger only to be told no). When I disclosed my weight, the lady’s response was “oh sweetie, yeah no, you’d make our horses look like ponies, they are only 15.2”. The tone she used was extremely condescending and rude. I want to reiterate, I understand completely that some barns have low weight limits and I totally respect that, but wants I don’t agree with is the way I was told off. That is unacceptable. So for anyone wondering, their weight limit is 200 lb and they are not at all nice if you are over that weight limit. A simple “unfortunately our weight limit with the horses we currently have available is 200 lb., but we wish you the best finding another barn that can accommodate you.” Or if they know of another barn that does then recommend them to another small business if you want to support other barns. So disappointed, but very thankful that we were able to find an accommodating barn. So for those turned away from here, Mountain Lane Farm in NH is extremely accommodating and have the...
Read moreBEWARE OF CAT signs throughout the property alarmed a relative in my party who has a fear of cats. We inquired when we arrived over the phone and the stable woman said, it's for people to know not to touch the cats and has had cats stolen before. We explained gently that a person in our party had a phobia, anxiety mounting, and two of us got out the car to talk in person to see how many cats were roaming the property. The Stable woman was extremely dismissive and immediately snapped " so it's just going to be the 2 of you then?!" The cat will just come out, say Hi, and go". We explained that was what we wanted to avoid and instead of presenting options or offering to check on the whereabouts of the cats she proceeded to share an anecdote impersonating the last person she encountered with a fear. We did not indulge this display. My mom replied, we will need to cancel. And she threw up her arms walked, away saying well now she can call others on the waiting list. It's my birthday today. We drove to Rhode Island from Connecticut to have some fun. I rarely ever post bad reviews but her rudeness was...
Read moreIt seems as tho people realated to this company are not very nice people. I saw a truck with this companies sign on the back of it weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off, tail gating very close for a full size Chevy truck, and even goinf as far as flipping people her middle finger as she cuts someone off because they were traveling slower than she she wanted to go.. This person was doing nothing wrong and yet this associate of c&l stables had the nerve to flip them off because she wanted to drive 80+ mph when the exit she had to take was 1000ft away. She had the ignoranve to cut them off and flip em off instead of waiting 30 seconds to take her exit. I'm not sure if this is the owner or employee but either way this was a horribly embarassing display from this company. Doing all these rude manuvers while knowing the name and number is posted on the tail gate of the truck she was driving.. Ignorant, ignorant woman. If she is willing to do this in public imagine what she is willing to do in her work place.. ...
