There's not enough words that can describe this absolutely beautiful, stunning place that will leave you in awe and filled with memories that will last a lifetime. There are countless miles of hiking trails that wind all through the mountains with awe inspiring views and spectacular waterfall around practically every curve. Believe me when I say that you best come prepared for hiking I.E. hiking footwear, backpack, snacks and plenty of water if you plan on making it a day of hiking. The trails vary from easy to difficult with each and every trail offering personal beauty of their own. Pictures nor words can never come close to describing the awesome beauty of this place. Personal experience is the only way to capture all that it has to offer. My wife and I were not prepared for a day of hiking, so getting up to Fairy Falls was enough for us. But now that we know everything it has to offer, we're coming back and doing a 10 day stay at the beautiful nearby state park Ainsworth and will be properly prepared, outfitted and ready to tackle them all. If you're into the challenge of hiking and taking in more beauty than you can handle, I'd HIGHLY recommend visiting here. Then after that, if you want more, then the Cascade Locks have all the tails you can handle. Then If that's not enough and you want to go the distance try the 2,650 more Pacific Quest Trail that ties into them as well. But start off with Maltnomah Falls first you'll be...
Read moreSuch a beautiful waterfall. A short, but somewhat steep hike up to the bridge portion of the waterfall. The path is paved so you can push a stroller if needed, might be too steep for a wheelchair to get up to the bridge, however, the view from the bottom is equally as awesome! There is plenty of room to snag a good picture of yourself, and everyone seemed to take a few and move to let someone else in. There is a great gift shop on site, as well as a historic restaurant and pub. We grabbed a table at the pub and enjoyed some beer and hard cider, as well as a delicious French Dip. I’m a vegetarian and they made one for me with just Swiss, mushrooms and onions. It was so good! One of our favorite stops along the Columbia Gorge.
Parking: if you plan to drive, make sure you go on their website and reserve parking! You are allowed (2) 1 hr time slots per day @ $2 per permit. You will not gain access to the waterfall unless you have this pass on hand. You can stay as long as you want, but 2hrs should be plenty. There is a trolly you can ride to this...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing, parking was horrible the ranger had to come out and regulate because people were removing cones and sneaking cars in so us cars ahead that had been waiting were waiting longer ..but thanks to ranger chic she was not having it .. and we managed to get a spot right up front. .very busy in this area in front of the waterfall and gift shops ..people dont always use the crosswalk and are allover the road. .I do believe it's all about the rush and the extreme feelings people are overcome with upon arrival that they kind of forget that there is still a road..but everyone was very cautious.. the waterfall itself was speachlessly beautiful anyone who hasn't gone needs to make that a stop .. I only stayed down below but looking up you see a bridge above and people closer to the top of the fall experiencing the most sensory overload nature can give I envied the group above . We were running out of time ..I was glad to have gotten my destination coin from the gift shop aswell as a sasquatch coin ..I...
