This review is not about the falls, is about the parking. When we went the parking off exit 31 was closed because it was full, so we had to try the parking that is right across the falls, when we got there, there was a blond guy with long hair standing at the entrance of the parking with a sign that says full so almost everyone was making a u turn to try to find an impossible parking spot somewhere else, right when we left he let other cars enter the parking, then my husband tried to find a spot on the road but it was too busy to the point that people were parking their cars on the dirt and walk all the way to the falls. Then my husband came back again to see if a spot was open and there was one but still the guy did not let him in saying there is no spot. Short story long the guy never let us in the parking, and he was the rudest person i have ever met, talking to people in a bad way as if he was owning the parking or the falls, my husband had to park so far away because of the poor parking management in a tourist attraction place like multnomah falls. So frustrating and the guy absolutely ruined our day because of his attitude and how he was...
Read moreLarge paved parking lot. Parking is currently free. In the past they have required a permit. On a nice spring weekday lot was nearly full around noon. Near the end of January there was parking available around noon. The falls are visible from the parking lot. Tour buses were in the lot, but they appear to have small groups on foot, so they didn't appear to have much impact. No restrooms at the lot but flush toilets are available at the lodge when it is open. A tunnel under the eastbound highway takes you to lodge and trailhead. The trails are mostly paved, but pavement is poorly maintained, leaving potholes an uneven surfaces. Be prepared for mist if you walk to the bridge viewing area. The pavement gets worse as you climb. The trails are narrow with steep drops on the side. Dogs are allowed but can be problematic on the narrow trails. Fairly busy for a weekday. I would expect large crowds on nice weekends. Lodge area has a theme park feel. See my review of lodge...
Read moreI got to see and hike the fall 2 out 5 times, because is too crowded and no parking.. Traffic was horrible.
Summer time, need to reserve entry pass the from Bridal Veil Parking lot to Horsetail Fall parking for $2 online. Only could entry the hour reserve and could stay long as you want. 1 time entry only. There is shuttle bus from falls to falls. Reserve entry pass start at 9 am, before 9 is could entry without a pass. Flow of falls is more than in winter. Leaves is very green.
Winter, you don't need to reserve entry and not crowded as other times in the morning. Be careful on the trail, is icy. I actually fall on the end of bridge, but lucky I have thick jacket on so minor injury. Very green and leave in fall color. Very pretty.
Hike is very easy and 0.2 mile one way to bridge. Pavement trail and stroller friendly.
