G.I. Surplus — Attraction in Waterford Township

This place gets two thumbs up for going the extra mile for me. My father recently passed away and I went there to get help restoring his Marine Corp dress blue uniform jacket that I had found in my mom's basement so that it could be displayed at his funeral. They helped me find everything I needed to to bring it back to its original appearance (buttons. stripes, and belt). Even though they didn't have one item I needed they didn't hesitate to tell me where to go to find it. My father didn't have his hat anymore and the guy even offered to loan me one from the store. I will be forever grateful for them helping me during this difficult time. Although the father has passed away he'd be proud that his son continues to run the store in such a wonderful way. ...

I visited G.I. Surplus looking for a very specific coat in an uncommon size. Unsurprisingly they didn't have the extremely specific item I was looking for. However, the owner of the store was extremely helpful in suggesting some alternatives, and even gave me a lot of really helpful information about how to find the item I was looking for at other stores if it came to that. I really appreciated that he was primarily interested in helping me get what I needed, even more than making a sale, and I would highly recommend GI Surplus as the first place to look for any army/navy surplus stuff you might be looking for. I visited here back in January and many things were out of stock for patches. Two patches I purchased in the store and Eric ordered me the other two. Over a month has gone by and my patches that were “ordered” never showed up. When calling, never got a call back. I did get an email but all I got for a response was “I did not forget about you.” If you do not live locally, do not order anything since it won’t show up. Disappointed that people...
