On Monday, July 31, there was barely anyone in the entire place when we arrived 40 minutes early for a 4:10 showing of Oppenheimer, and yet it was filthy. Even if the 1P "crowd" made a mess, there were employees everywhere standing around chatting with one another. The floors, the ladies' room, the countertops at the concession, the carpets - all filthy.
The people who work behind the counter must not receive any training whatsoever. They stood there, in an empty lobby, with filthy counters in front of them, not giving a thought to, I don't know, picking up a cloth and perhaps wiping things down. One of the butter dispensers was "out of order" and there were pools of butter on the counter under the out-of-order spigot and the one that worked, so when put your popcorn down, the bottom of the bag got soaked with grease. Not real butter, of course.
Concessions was "sold out" of every kind of soft drink except bottled iced tea and regular Coke. No kidding. No bottled water, no root beer, no Diet anything. SOLD OUT. "We were busy this weekend," was the kid's explanation. The entire world knew theaters were gonna be busy this past weekend - Barbenheimer, except this poorly run AMC. It took 30 minutes to get my money back for the medium Diet Coke I thought I was buying. Why on earth wouldn't the young woman have told me, "hey, unless you want regular Coke, we have no soda." I asked if I could keep the cup for water at least, and she snatched it away and handed me a tiny paper cup. "This is for the free water."
There was one really nice guy at the ticket counter, but everyone else I encountered was...how can I describe it...unhappy? Angry? I pride myself on my ability to make people smile with a compliment or kind comment. These kids were as expressionless as Mount Rushmore, and colder. I really felt as though I were putting them out by merely being there. When I asked if I could please have my money back for the medium drink since there was nothing for me to put in the cup, you'd have thought I asked for a kidney. OH! The terrible amount of trouble and effort it entailed to locate a manager who could refund my $6+. She was equally put out, as though $6+ wasn't worth anyone's trouble. Especially hers. There seemed no way to refund my money since I had paid using ApplePay, so I had to find the credit card linked to my ApplePay, which ultimately required even more effort vis-a-vis the refund. I could have walked away at that point, but they literally didn't have another customer in the vicinity. Come on!
The ladies' room was out of toilet paper although the entire lobby and bathroom were void of humans other than us, and the employees. The floor was a mess, garbage overflowing, toilets that hadn't been flushed, filthy sinks, mirrors, etc. Charming.
The floor of the IMAX theater was so sticky my sandals made a suction sound every time I moved my feet.
Friends of ours sat toward the back, while we were closer to the front of the second tier, and everyone said the same thing; that most of the dialog was inaudible. It was incredibly loud, but the sound was badly distorted. We literally have to see the film again at a good theater so we can hear what was said. Dialog; a key component of most films. I'm sure it meant something to Chris Nolan.
This theater experience was disgusting. We all know it's hard to find people to work in service industries these days, in which case management and corporate should show up at the theater, roll up their sleeves, and get to work. Or knock 50% off ticket prices, and tell people to bring their own...
Read moreAmC mayfair has gone way downhill since the days I grew up going to this movie theater during the late 90s and early 2000s, When it was the number one most populer and trafficked movie theatre in SE Wisconsin. They need to finally update this place or just shut. It went here for the first time in over a year and the place is still run down. Outdated luffled sound systems, and screens. Very outdated seats. They very short staffed and we didn't even know The theater was open at first ca7se We got to the gate area because the whole area looked like it was empty and roped off To stop people from entering and there was no customer service staff in the front at the kiosks. So we actually thought the theater was closed down. It's so out of date. The digital showrime screens above each one of the cinemas and in the aisle sections are usually turned off. I don't think they have updated this theater since 2008/2009 When that small imax theater and digital 3D screens were added to some of the cinemas. compared to the Marcus theaters and the one we go to now primarily. Which is the Marcus Majestic in Brookfield, This theater can't even remotely compete. Most of the other AMC theaters around the country I've gone to when I travel for work have stated the art facilities Dolby cinema Bd tge more advanced imax 3D cinemas and have better facilities than this one. So I don't know why the staff or management is intentionally letting this cinema decline When mayfair mall keeps getting more popular and popular and when it?That's now the most popular mall in the entire state. So to me it makes sense to finally do a big update of renovation of this theater To appeal to all the huge crowds that are coming. There especially with all...
Read moreSo I agreed to go see the StarTrek movie in 3D because it was no longer playing in 3d anywhere else. I went there excited to see a movie in a theater I haven't been to. I'll be honest and simple. 7 people waiting to buy a ticket in line and one terribly slow cashier who could have cared less (15 minute process, missed previews). Bathroom dirty with hair and filth. The seats are leather and decent on the bottom but wouldn't lean back or move (be prepared to sit erect the whole time, in my case more then 2 hrs). Along with those ERECT seats there are tables (half moons) behind each seat that prevent you from folding your legs or stretching them forward (your knees bump). Can you imagine my brother who is 6'3 320lbs. They lower the lights on the wall but the exit signs and floor lights make it light enough to hardly see the movie(maybe if closer to it but ?) and also be a nice glare on the glasses themselves, from behind you. The most unbelievable thing about this place is that people believe its ok to take your little kids in to see a movie they have no understanding of! they then have them talking, crying and whining through the whole thing! what a crappy place all around! Oh and for this experience you can pay almost 12 dollars a ticket (only have discounts after 4) when tickets rocket more. WELL over priced. Who ever wrote good reviews for this place must not know the good places. Buyer beware. Its exactly what you expect out of a place in the middle of a mall....
