If you plan on living here expect to pay $1,000+ on move out because tenants are expected to pay for these units as if they own them, and get everything in writing because they will go back on their word.
I thought we had a good relationship with management...I was wrong. Lesson learned. We lived in this apartment complex for a total of 5 years. Our first apartment was no problem. We moved from an upstairs unit to a downstairs. We were told the deposit would be moved as well. Fast forward 4 years. We had asked multiple times to have help cleaning the carpets as we had lived there for 4 years with pets and the carpet had not been replaced when we moved in. I told her we didn't mind going halves or taking off of rent to deep clean the apartment, but I do not feel like tenants should pay 100% for this on a unit that is rented. We were told the matter would be looked into, but we never heard back about anything. The tub was always backing up and maintenance was asked repeatedly to come clean it up but we never saw them. A few weeks after move out we were slapped with a $1200 dollar bill for "cleaning expenses". When I tried to get with April about this they could not find record of our first deposit and since she had nothing in writing about maintenance requests we were responsible for these charges. I reminded her we had tried to get help cleaning the carpets and as we had pets the carpets were going to be replaced anyway, but she "did not remember having a conversation with us about that". I have always had pets and took care they didn't mess up the carpet to much and have never had to pay to replace the carpet. I explained to her that the tub was always backing up and it didn't need to be resurfaced because I personally had to clean that myself while living there and was able to clean it up with a little bit of elbow grease. Tenants are expected to pay for 100% of the deep cleaning of a unit they do not own and then pay for replacing of the carpet and the resurfacing of the tub at move out. There is 0 communication, maintenance and management take forever to get anything done if they get it done at all, and they have horrible attitudes and customer service.
We were good tenants that took care of our apartment, cleaned up after our animals, and always paid rent on time. I cleaned up that apartment at move out like I have many times before. I do not take kindly to being charged like we are filthy people who left that apartment with $1200 dollars worth of cleaning expenses.
Edit: We still have not been contacted after the generic review response from College Park. Just another example of lack of customer service and...
Read moreMy husband and I moved in June/July 2018 and moved out February 2020. We never had a great experience with the office staff, there was one woman who was a quite rude any time I went in or she saw me outside. We lived in an efficiency which we wanted to see before we moved in but they only showed us after we had signed the lease. When the moving in day came around I was told I could move in as soon as the office opened at 9 am. This was our first time living together so I was super excited and got there right at 9 am, but the office didn’t open until 10:30. I called the off location office and they didn’t know why the office was not open on time and tried calling themselves but obviously nobody answered as they were not there. Even when they opened I was told we wouldn’t be able to move in until they were done painting (which we were told previously the painting would be done two days prior). After waiting for what seemed like all day, wasting not only my time but my friends and family who were helping me move, we finally got the keys around 4:30 pm.
When we moved in our laundry door was outside and never put into place despite myself putting in a maintenance request. Our air conditioning went out in 2019 and was out for nearly two months before they fixed it. I had told the woman in the office about it when I was down there for something else and she said she would let the maintenance team know about it. A month went by and nothing was ever done about it so I went back down there and spoke with the maintenance team directly to which they came out either the same or next day (I can’t remember).
If you want an apartment where they rarely check in on you and leave you alone, this is a great place. But just be aware if you have medium to large sized dogs or children and live in an upstairs unit you may receive noise complaints due to you simply walking around. We didn’t have any issues with the first person that lived below us but when they moved out, we were constantly receiving complaints when we hadn’t done anything besides walk. The office staff said this was common for people with children, but it was just us and our medium sized dog.
Anytime we went to the pool, everybody looked at us oddly and it felt as though we were being judged. We tried to go to the pool three times (once for a summer party) before we stopped going because we didn’t feel welcome despite trying to be friendly and smile.
Admittedly, our dog did chew up the carpet and ruin parts of the apartment. So perhaps whoever moves in after us will enjoy their newly renovated apartment. It was simply not a great...
Read moreCollege Park was the worst living experience of my life. It was hell from the start. We regrettably were unable to tour the property ahead of time because it was a long distance move. When we first saw the unit in person it was nothing like the photos. Countertops were scuffed, cabinets were falling apart and crooked, the paint was chipped and peeling and the doors to the balcony were half broken. The closet shelves were soaked in dog piss and rotting. I wish I could say that was the worse of it. The night we moved in, the ceiling in the bathroom collapsed from the AC being installed improperly leaving a pile of moldy debris on the floor. It took them nearly a month to repair it. Within a week of moving in we started getting roaches. We are very neat people and have never had this problem before. They'd crawl through the drains and from cracks in the wall. No matter what we did the bugs infested our home. During the summer, we noticed the AC continuously struggled to keep up. When it was over 90 degrees outside the inside of the apartment would get to over 85. I would be wearing nothing but a tank top and my underwear to keep cool and still sweating with the blinds closed and the AC running full blast. At times it would be close to 90 degrees inside with the ac running. Our AC bill was consistently nearly 300 dollars for a 2 bedroom whereas at our old apartment it was never over 150. That brings me to the water bill. When I moved in they told me the average bill was 60-80 dollars at most. At our old place once again it was only ever 40 max. When we got the first bill I almost fainted. It was 120$ and stayed that way the entire time we lived there. They'd run a hose into the pool to keep it filled up and charge people for the water they waste. The property is covered in trash, the buildings are falling apart and you'll feel embarrassed to live here. The siding of the buildings falls off and they don't care. Shingles fall off the roof and they don't care. The maintenance guys are incompetent and once left my dishwasher drain loose causing a huge leak. They're idiots. Your packages will be stolen and the front office doesn't care. Before you think I'm just snooty and it's not that bad, I grew up poor in a house where we barely made ends meet and I shared a room with 3 others. I'd rather go back to that then ever step foot in college park ever again. These are the WORST apartments in Weatherford. There are better safer options for the same price. Unless you like bugs, falling apart buildings, outrageous utilities and being uncomfortable in your own home DO...
