I normally don't post reviews but this was one of the worst stays we have had in a long time.
We arrived late Monday night and noticed a slight smell but we needed to get to bed. We awoke to discover the pool was closed. When I inquired about it in the morning as we were not told when we checked in or notified prior to arrival, I was told it should be fixed today. It was just a signage issue and that it would be up and running. I expressed my disappointment at the time as I said we had planned to swim every day. Instead my entire family had to find alternative things to do (costing us money) for that day.
I asked if anyone was coming into our room only because we were rushing out and I was told we were not on the list to clean since we only arrived. I had run the AC while we were gone hoping the smell would improve when we came back. We ended up staying away longer and were exhausted when I returned. The room smelled horrible again. We also came back to discover the pool "hadn't been fixed like we were told it would be". And this time it had to do with the chemicals and that the city didn't know what they were doing because you had just had your pool person out and the chemicals were all okay. So, now we have been told two different stories about pool closure. Which meant we couldn't enjoy it Wednesday morning like I had planned to do with my family.
We had 3 rooms total but I hadn't entered the other rooms we had paid for yet so I didn't know there was a "better" option at this time in regards to smell. I sort of thought the hotel just smelled this horrific smell. Wednesday morning upon entering the other rooms I realized there was a difference. We had errands to run for our family wedding that evening and when I came back I couldn't take the horrific room smell - literally made me want to vomit when I walked in and asked to be moved. All this while trying to get myself and my entire extended family ready for a wedding. Spoke to the front desk and they offered to try and move us which I greatly appreciated. We tried one room and it smelled as well. Finally found a room on another floor that smelled much better but still had a funk to it but we moved. It was a major inconvenience.
We were very patient while dealing with these issues. Overall all the rooms were just not good from a cleanliness standpoint. Artwork barely hanging on, mold spots on walls, dirt built up and AC units not cleaned. When talking about it the next morning we were told that the room we were in had workers in there right before us with very dirty clothes, etc. and that is probably why the room stunk. And that they would be cleaning carpets. Then when saying that the other room smelled as well we were told - oh the AC units need new filters and that they have told the cleaning crew but it probably just didn't get done. Bottom line is we got story after story. Plain and simple this facility is NOT clean. When calling Wyndham I was told they couldn't do anything for me even though they assigned me a case number. I had to deal with the hotel directly. I was assured when I left there that the manager on duty was going to "take care of me". Upon calling and following up to see what was done to take care me I found out the manager had worked to put back less than half of my points for 1 night stay. We had 3 rooms total and stayed for 3 nights. Paid for 2 rooms and used points for the room that had the horrific smell. And we only stayed because I had such a large group to try and find a different hotel that could accommodate us all in short time wasn't reasonable. Just so sad this is what they do to be considered good customer service. I would have expected all my points returned. While there the two ladies working the different shifts which one of them ended up being the manager on duty were kind. I was really hoping Wyndham would have handled this but I guess this hotel is independent of them. That I did not know even was a possibility but certainly...
Read moreWas very disappointed with this hotel. Four rooms were booked months in advance for a family event, one room for 5 night, two for 3 nights and 1 for a single night, from the very start at check in their where issues. Demanding credit cards from people staying at the room (and charging us) despite being reserved by another person and being charged to the them as well. The very first night myself and husband were woken up multiple times by kids running up and down the hallways and yelling children. Breakfast that morning was limited to nothing but fruit and cereal and overly crowded. Second morning husband and I were woken at six a.m. by a dog barking in the room across from us for TWO HOURS NON STOP. When we got up and made a complaint at the front desk we were brushed aside, stating that they would say something to the rooms occupant. Nothing was done. Second complaint was made later that day and that night. Once more nothing was done about the dog, despite the rules saying that animals were not to be left unattended. Third morning was woken same as the second, with additional noise of a baby screaming in the rooms above us. The sound proofing here is terrible. We had driven from Tampa, Fl to Weatherford, Tx to spend time with our family and were extremely tired by this time (three nights with no sleep) which really effected our time here now. Our room was clean but my cousins room next door had FLEAS in the bedding which is unacceptable even by a hotel that takes pets. The breakfast options were extremely limited the first two mornings (No proteins, cereal and fruit only) and the third morning we found ants in the cereal. We decided to eat out that morning. We also noticed several times that the housekeeping staff was bringing their children to work with them and allowing them into the clients rooms while they cleaned.
Upon returning my husband and I informed the front desk we would be checking out early for these reasons and would like to make complaint known. The front desk receptionist said she understood. No offer was made to have a manager speak to us nor where any apologies offered. During the entire stay, not once did we even see a manager to speak with.
After check out I discovered that we had left behind a stuffed animal, I contacted the hotel (only 5-6 hrs after leaving) to inquire about it and was told that i would have to wait until the next morning when the morning house keeping came in. No one at the front desk even checked for it. I went to the hotel in person early the next morning to ask about it. I was told and I quote "I have had nothing turned in by anyone and I can't ask the house keeping staff because none of them speak English so I can't help you". I had to return home with out my belonging.
This was easily one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in and put a definite damper on the vacation I was there to enjoy. Needless to say neither I nor anyone else in my family, will be staying at this, or any other La...
Read moreI would not recommend this hotel! In fact I’m shocked there are such good reviews here. I had once stayed in this hotel 2 years ago when visiting family. Then, it was fairly nice. Since then however, this place has definitely gone down. Seems like management isn’t keeping up the property. There are holes in the walls, broken tile everywhere, torn and dirty carpet. They certainly aren’t putting money back into the business to maintain it. Apparently the hot tub has been out of service for a while and is just roped off with caution tape or safety cones. First thing I noticed when headed to my room was the smell. The hallways and rooms smelled old and musty. Very off putting! When I originally checked in to the first room, it looked like someone was in there. Dirty towel and open soap in the bathroom. The bed seemed untouched however. Few minutes later I realized the problem. The AC unit was super loud and clunky. It definitely needed to be worked on! That would keep anyone up all night so I went down stairs and they moved me right away. I’m wondering if someone else got that room and had to be moved as well. Next room had a newer AC unit but the room in general looked tired. Broken tile everywhere, beat up furniture, frayed carpet but it was clean. I ended up staying 2 nights and I kick myself for not leaving and going to a different hotel the second night. Main reason for that was because I found to big crickets in my room which was on the 3rd level. I shouldn’t have to be stomping out bugs in my hotel that’s $80 per night. I wonder if all the rooms had the infestation. I noticed the lobby had some squished crickets as well so it’s not just my room. I also had to get my keys re keyed because they stopped working. Guess their machine got damaged a while back and they don’t want to pay to fix it. Seems like the key problem happens a lot. I almost never write reviews for places but I was so disappointed I had to for this hotel. Save your money, there’s a cheaper Super 8 down the road that has much nicer rooms. I’ll be sure to never stay at La Quinta in...
