My previous experiences with Best Buy have been satisfactory. However, when attempting to replace my washer/dryer unit, I endured the worst customer service I've experienced since RCN took over the city. This was my first time buying and installing an appliance with Best Buy, and will not do so again. I am writing this review to help prevent others from suffering the same endless misery.
Everything about the service went well initially. At the end of the installation (at approximately 8:30 am), they set both the washer and dryer to run empty cycles, and they told me that once those cycles were complete, I could use the appliance with actual laundry. Unfortunately, the connection between the hose and the unit itself was not installed properly, and water sprayed both into the holes in the back of the brand new unit and onto my wooden floors.
This is the part that I consider unacceptable.
Recognizing the issue with installation, I immediately called Best Buy (roughly 2 hours after their departure). After speaking with three different individuals, I was told that "nothing could be done" until the truck that had delivered the unit returned to the warehouse, because that's the only way the "system could update the order status to 'delivered'". No manual override. No way for anyone to help correct the mistake that their team made. I had to wait until the next day to call back and schedule a replacement delivery and installation.
Meanwhile, a flooding restoration company was called to attempt to save my wooden floors. Loud, expensive, and scary for my puppies, but hopefully it prevented the need to replace my floors.
This is another layer of unacceptable customer service.
When I called the next day, the earliest appointment to replace the affected unit and install a new unit was 18 days later. I was expected to go another almost 3 weeks without laundry facilities in my apartment for a mistake that they made. Three calls later and I finally connected with someone who could schedule an appointment to replace and install a new unit 4 days later.
This was an unnecessarily frustrating process and a horrid example of customer service. I will avoid using Best Buy in the future, and I strongly recommend that...
Read moreI typically look to Best Buy for my electronics needs due to their wide selection and reputation for customer service. However, my recent visit to the Roosevelt location in Chicago was deeply disappointing, not only because of the service but also due to the unprofessional handling of the situation by the manager, who I was told was named Vincent.
Upon entering the store, I had difficulty finding an associate to assist me with my inquiries. After some time, I was given information that later turned out to be inaccurate, leading to a purchase that did not meet my needs. Realizing the mistake, I returned to the store, hoping for a simple exchange or refund.
Unfortunately, the situation was not handled well. I was met with an inordinate amount of resistance from the staff. I asked to speak with a manager, hoping for a resolution that would be satisfactory for all parties involved. This is where my frustration peaked.
The manager, Vincent, was dismissive from the outset of our conversation. He did not seem interested in understanding the situation from my perspective as a customer or in making any effort to address my concerns. His demeanor was not only unhelpful but bordered on disrespectful, giving me the impression that my satisfaction as a customer was not a priority for this store.
While I understand that managing a retail operation can be challenging, and not every issue may have a simple solution, I expect a basic level of courtesy and professionalism. Regrettably, this was lacking in my interaction with Vincent.
In conclusion, the distressing experience I had at Best Buy on Roosevelt was far removed from the standard I have come to expect based on past experiences with the brand. From the misinformed staff to the dismissive attitude of the manager, it felt as though customer service was not a valued component of this store's operation. It is with hope that this feedback is received not as a mere complaint but as a genuine call for reflection and improvement in customer service. Customer satisfaction should be paramount in retail, and unfortunately, it was not shown at this...
Read moreTLDR : shop here is not optimal. Go to Apple Store if you want to buy apple products.
I went there to get an Apple Watch (first time user) yesterday (Monday) morning. They rang me up pretty fast given I knew which model I wanted. They just forgot to ask me what size band I would want and gave me a small band Apple Watch packet.
I came to know that I could have gotten a larger band after I got home and set up the watch. Okay, fine. Honest mistake. Would have been nice to know but what was done was done.
I went back again this morning to exchange the watch for one with larger band. And the exchange process was a nightmare. The lady processing was very patient and probably the only person trying to help me rather than offload my issue to someone else. But she wasn’t the one handling the technical issues. The geek squad staff wasn’t of much help either. After trying multiple things and frantically googling, I finally figured out how to properly reset the watch. Then came the exchange part where I was told to wait at the apple section. After waiting for a while another staff told me that they were short staffed and I might have to wait about 30 minutes to get the watch. Another staff came in and brought the wrong (more expensive) model.
I was at the verge of returning the whole thing and going to the Apple Store sometime this weekend. The customer service lady who was processing my return finally had enough and went to get the watch herself.
I don’t know why they are so understaffed while there are customers lining up like crazy. It frustrates the staff and that gets transferred to the customers. Perhaps the management needs to up their game, hire more people, train the technical staff properly and give these poor souls some breathing room.
Moral of the story: go to an Apple Store if you want to get an apple product. At least they know what they are selling and are...
