I practically grew up in this mall, so it holds a special place in my heart. It’s amazing to see that even in 2025, it’s still alive and thriving in its own unique way. While so many malls across the country have faded away or become ghost towns, this one has managed to keep its charm and sense of community.
What really makes this place special is that it’s filled with mostly “mom and pop” shops rather than big corporate chains. There’s something refreshing about walking through a mall where the owners actually know their customers, take pride in their work, and give each store its own personality. You can still find all kinds of interesting things here — from handmade gifts to quirky collectibles and nostalgic little treasures that remind you of the past.
I do miss the old arcade that used to be across from the theater. That was such a fun hangout spot when I was younger — flashing lights, the sound of coins dropping, and the energy of people playing games together. It would be amazing if someone brought back a vintage-style arcade to capture a bit of that magic again.
If I had one small wish, it would be to see a few more food options. Maybe a new café, diner, or even a food court revival would make the experience even better. Still, considering how tough it is for malls to survive these days, this one is doing remarkably well. It has managed to hold on to its identity and sense of community in a world that’s constantly changing.
Overall, it’s comforting to see this mall still standing strong — a living reminder of simpler times and a great place to spend a...
Read moreWe went there for something called "Peep Show", which is actually kind of like an art exhibit of things made out of marshmallow peeps. Though our first time, The show seemed well established and apparently had been going on for years. They had custom made souvenirs and such for purchase. Anyway, the interesting thing about this mall is that, even though it was made during the height of the big mall era, and it has the typical low occupancy that plagues these type of malls, the stores still there were spread out in such a way that it was not like walking through a mall graveyard. The mall was clean and some of the stores that remained had actually spread out to other unoccupied areas of the mall including some window displays. Some stores were even duplicated. Although this seems kind of pointless, it does have the effect of making the mall seem more alive than it otherwise would have. If you are a hobbyist, one of the highlights of this mall is the number of small hobby shops and modeling type stores, there is also a retro store there with toys from the '80s '70s etc. There was also at least one store which carried crystals of different sorts and other interesting items which were worth seeing even if not buying. The only reason it's not five stars is because it is mostly empty mall, but its what they did with it that...
Read moreMalls in America are dying, that’s a fact. Brick and mortar stores in general are going away.
While this Mall does have a lot of vacant spaces available, it’s bringing a new way of looking at Malls. They have what I call Nerdtopia. There’s a HUGE toy collectors/comic book store inside that even I enjoyed strolling through. I overheard a couple telling a few team members that they drove down from Maine to check out their large toy store. I absolutely understood why once I realized how much they had to offer.
There was another large store that had a ton of tables spread out. I walked in to find this place was a trading card game store. Not just one where you could buy cards like Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, etc. but you could play the actual cards. As an OG Pokémon card collector who never played it as a game, who knew! I saw an employee actually teaching a new customer on how to play the game he bought.
So while the Malls are dying in the sense of you’re able to buy your clothes, body spray, and anything else online. The sense of seeing nostalgic toys and being able to play physical games with social interaction is something that could keep this Mall going. I feel they should continue to look in this direction and embrace Nerdtopia, they already have a GameStop here (which I think they should move to a...
