Edited from 1 to 3 stars: The sales manager reached out personally to follow up on my experience which, while I wish that had happened sooner, I do appreciate.
I wanted a custom window bench cushion so I went to Etsy to find a vendor. I found ZipCushions, a company I thought was located in Colorado. They gave me an estimate; I needed several months to save up for the purchase. I went back when I was ready and re-confirmed the quote which turned out to be $832.
They sent me a payment link, which turned out badly because it was outside Etsy's payment system so Etsy could not help me resolve my negative experience. It took them over a week to get back with me to confirm measurements. I sent pictures, including pictures with a tape measure.
Another week went by. They sent an email with a confirmation of measurements. The diagram was upside down, which I reported. I expected a return confirmation email on measurements but did not get it.
Another week went by and I got an email saying my cushion was in production. Two or three more weeks went by and I got notification it was being shipped. I went to see where it was in transit - it was in Mumbai, India! Turns out this is not an American company after all. I called the Colorado number and spoke to someone in India.
I finally got the cushion - and it was missing a chunk! They had not used the correct measurements, which I had originally reported multiple times with pictures. They said I had confirmed the measurements, so it was my fault.
I called Etsy - they said since I purchased using a private link outside their system, they couldn't validate the purchase and would not help me. I asked why a provider in their system would send a private payment link; she said it's so the company doesn't have to pay Etsy any fees and to guarantee repeat business (which obviously will not be the case for me).
I asked ZipCushions to remake the order correctly. I noted that the customs form said the value was $350 so they would break even on making it right. But no - they said I had to pay another $415 or they would make a filler cushion to complete the original order.
I considered going back to my card and disputing the charge but decided I needed this beast of a situation to be dead. So, to be done with these clowns, I took the filler cushion option and let them know I would post an honest review of my experience.
It took another 3-4 weeks but I got the filler cushion. Along with multiple weekly requests to leave a review. The cushion looks out of place and not what EIGHT HUNDRED AND THIRTY-TWO DOLLARS should buy.
And so, my honest review to you, dear reader, is buyer beware - this company is not what it seems. They are not located in Colordo. I ordered Sunbrella fabric because it’s very sunny here and I’m told the fabric and color will hold up nicely. We shall see. They offer ties on the cushions and I wish I would’ve opted for them on the backs. I needed a different set for another outdoor dining set and I went straight back to ZIPCushions for those, too! I also had a cafe set that belonged to my mother in law. I decided to paint it and add cushions to the metal seats. I needed 14”x14”. Almost impossible to find. But not at ZIPCushions. They made me a set in the blush color I wanted. They say delivery takes about 6 weeks from time of order but I got mine in about 4. I was waiting for the arrival of the trunk to match swatches before I ordered. I received a pleasant follow up email from zip cushion customer support asking whether I was still considering ordering a cushion. The trunk arrived the next day and I was able to order the cushion the day after that. The cushion came in about 3 weeks and it was perfect. Measurements were right on and fabric high quality. It was compress packaged so the package was small. After opening, the cushion expanded was ready to use within hours.
