The only issues with this place are contracting ones - the drains sometimes don't clear and when it rains the park floods. Other than that, this place is a lifesaver!! My dog has become such a social little boy from regularly visiting, and I've seen other regulars completely change the way they react to other dogs.
If you have a problem with a dog conflict, it's a human error, always. "Pit bulls should be banned" "my dog was attacked/don't come here".... YOUR fault as an uneducated dog owner who doesn't understand canine energies and behaviors. If you come into a space where dogs are behaving and then all of a sudden they aren't once you're in, YOU are obviously the cause! Don't try to tarnish a facility that does nothing but provide the Whittier area with a place to socialize their dogs. The park on Broadway doesn't allow animals and many residences don't have yards. This is some people's only chance to give their dogs exercise and it's a place to respect.
Oh and clean your dog's poop,...
Read moreI come here with my dog Lambeau fairly regularly. It's a pretty big space for the large dogs that stretches along the Greenway Trail. There are usually other dogs no matter the time of day, but is at its busiest in the mid morning and early evening. There is limited shade, and no grass so the dogs get hot very quickly. I always try to bring my own water and a bowl even though there is a fountain next to the entrance. There is a crowd of regulars most of which are responsible. There have been a couple instances where I have seen dogs get in fights here and it's usually because one dog is uncomfortable and wants to leave but the owner wants them to socialize so it eventually lashes out at another dog. Basically, be responsible, and know your dogs personality before you go to the park. Don't force them to do something they don't want to do, and step in and correct bad behavior, or even leave if your dog is the one instigating or just...
Read moreMy fur babiie understands the words, " Dog Park!" And iit is so absolutely adorable because he gets so excited whenever we pull up to the parks parking lot. One time my window was down and he jumped out of the car just to get into the park to play with other dogs. It's definitely helped my dog socialize and get back to being more happy since my babiie is a rescue and was stuck in a car until I got him so I am thankful for Whittier making iit possible to share and make memories with other people in the community and I recommend taking some time and experiencing how life changing and fun it is at the dog park, and your fur babiie will absolutely thank...
