My husband and I live 10 minutes away from this hotel. We came here last night desperately seeking an escape in the form of a clean room and the basic amenities of a no-frills hotel— none of which we had.
Upon checking in, I felt really uncomfortable having to push for the room type I paid for. I confirmed the details of my booking when I was asked for my ID and payment and the person at the front desk was weirdly very insistent that I booked a standard room instead of a suite.
Here’s why that didn’t sit right with me: I am very familiar with third party booking sites and hotel inventory software. I know that when I made the reservation via Expedia, the hotel immediately received a copy of the reservation, including the room type, and a virtual card to charge my reservation to.
I tried to politely correct him multiple times and each time he shrugged me off.
When he realized I wasn’t budging he kinda rolled his eyes and said “okay here” like everything suddenly made sense? It seemed really disingenuous and like an attempt to sell a standard king for the price of the suite. I think he thought I would just go along with him, at one point stating the standard was the only room available. But once he realized I wasn’t letting him get away with it, all of a sudden our suite was available with no apology or clarity.
We dealt with the whole awkward interaction in good faith, hoping the stay would be better than the initial check in and first impression. The room looked decent at first and we were exhausted so we got comfortable very quickly and unpacked and put groceries in the fridge.
The TV didn’t work. Annoying, yes, but not a huge problem right away. My husband went down to the front desk to ask for assistance, the same gentleman from checkin came to “fix” it and it worked for about five minutes until the signal got lost again.
The internet strength the hotel is paying for is not adequate enough for a smart television in every room and additional devices that guests will inevitably bring with them when they travel. The signal was going out every five minutes from there and we were unable to stay connected to the wifi on our devices. So we were unable to do the two things we came to the hotel to do: watch tv and use our devices in peace.
I went to wash my hands in the bathroom and found all the towels had gross, old stains. But again, we’re still trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. So my husband went to reception to get us four new towels and guess what? The same dark and disgusting stains on every single towel.
A stain here or there I could deal with but when they’re ALL filthy, that’s incredibly telling and off putting. If your towels look like that throw them away and do your guests the courtesy of investing in linens that don’t have the bodily fluid stains of previous visitors.
I did have to shower so unfortunately I did end up having to use those stained towels and again, I’m a good sport so I just went with it. I tried to use the blow dryer, nope, doesn’t work. I did all the little reset tricks and still didn’t turn on. No big deal right? Wet hair never hurt me before.
I wanted tocharge my phone so we could huddle around it and try to watch something together. Nope. The outlets near the bed didn’t work. So we tried the outlets on the desk, nope .So we tried the outlets near the sink, nope. So we tried the outlets next to the couch, nope.
I had been walking barefoot in the room for about 10 minutes trying to find a single working outlet. In that time my feet looked like I had been walking barefoot outside. I had to go rinse them off in the shower I had JUST gotten out of.
It’s a Travelodge—not a cute little 5 star boutique. We had realistic expectations and are very understanding but what the hell am I supposed to do when of the basic amenities listed on the hotel’s website there’s no wifi, there’s no working television, there’s no hairdryer OR coffee maker?
I can deal with one or two issues but this was such a baffling sequence of gross, off...
Read moreMost horrible stay I've ever had in my life. Went for our post elopement for a one day pre wedding and such to try the "jacuzzi King suite". The room itself aesthetically was in shape for the most part, no problems with the sheets and room attire although instantly the decay, and or rotten smell was inhaled along with the musk and temperature of the room. After settled, we of course went into the jacuzzi and instantly after five or so minutes I felt light headed, and out of breath (get your mind out of the gutter) and we noticed the AC inside the room was not adequately set at our desired temp. Furthermore, upon inspection we found out that only half of the fan/unit was working!!!! It was at the coldest setting we were able to set it on. Via hotel phone, we dialed the front desk @ #0, that was around 2328 with no response as no voice mail, and or re-routing was featured... Second attempt was at 0015hrs, and again the same non response. Third attempt was 0038hrs, and still no response. I physically then proceeded to go to the office and ring the bell with no response..... By this time, I acquired a thermostat inside my car and brought it back to our room to read out at 93 degrees! We were unable to get adequate rest, no even use the hot tub because the room was hot! 0730hrs, the front desk finally decides to pick up and checks out our AC. He agreed that it was broken and advised us that we should've dialed "320" to reach him as if we were able to read minds given no advisory in regards. He offered a 20percent off a next night stay along with moving us to another unit. So we declined, and finally tried to sleep for a bit on the mutual agreement a late checkout of 1400hrs was implemented. 1347hrs the manager Roger, and front desk come barging into our room (un-announced) and started yelling at us as if we broke the AC, and the situation was on us!!!!!! Quoting "I deal with YOU PEOPLE, and your kind everyday!" As if we were similar to the druggies they accommodate to! Managerial staff was extreme rude, unprofessional and it kept everything's in me not to knock him the ** out! Never have I been condescended to a point by someone in the service industry!!! Mark my words, do...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this place but I'll start with my stay which are all pros the all but one cons are post stay: Bed beyond comftrable, room has medical tub which felt great after a long drive, lady that checked me in was very sweet I think she was owner or manager, aside from some pricing misunderstanding on my part check in was easy check out was fast. Cons starting with only 1 about stay: they do not accept debit card for payment have to use the atm which does add a fee that is the only bad thing I have to say about my stay and I know now that if I do stay again to bring cash no big deal. Now the cons post stay...my friend and I really enjoyed our night here like I said bed was great jacuzzi tub great and we would like to stay again in a room with the tub I have looked online and see room is available but everytime I call to book it some guy answers the phone and when I say I want smoking room Jacuzzi tub he is always very rude and I have on 4 occasions try to book a room he always seems to answer the phone 1st time he said room was already being used he only had non smoking room well that does not work for us we don't wanna have to go outside to smoke while already in bed I told him it would not be for that night but for few days later he said didn't known when room would be available I asked if could book the room and if it was not available not have it charged to my card and he said if I book it I'll be charged no matter what and no refund I asked why it said it would be available online and he said nothing and hung up on me. Same scenario each time I have called. It can't be because my friend and I made a mess I even used my own ashtray so didn't have to clean that nothing in the trash left 1 towel on the floor and an empty pizza box so it can't be that we are banned from the place with a warning on the caller id about me I asked for the lady that works there and he sais without her name I can't talk to her. One day I'll go in and talk to her and get her name because we would like to stay there again as it is convient for the both of us meeting in the middle of our homes I just don't want to have to deal with this jerk guy on phone...
