Our stay at Rodeway Inn Historic was a blend of convenience and disappointment. The hotel's prime location near Colonial Williamsburg is undeniably its biggest draw, offering easy access to local attractions. The rooms, equipped with comfortable beds, a fridge, and a microwave, provided a basic level of comfort. However, the overall quality of our stay was compromised by several factors.
On our second night, we were greeted with glacially cold water, and, disappointingly, our complaint about the lack of hot water seemed to vanish into thin air, with no one returning our calls or addressing the issue promptly. The next morning, the manager's response was underwhelming, informing us that the problem was resolved late at night and mentioning an attempted phone call that we never received due to a broken room phone—a fact that seemed to elicit no further action or apology when brought to the manager's attention.
Furthermore, the general cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired. Finding long black hairs in the bathroom and encountering a cracked tub in poor condition detracted from the overall experience.
The amenities also fell short of expectations. The breakfast was extremely limited, offering only coffee and cold cereal. No cleaning services were offered for a two-day stay, surprising as the period of COVID lockdowns is over.
Lastly, the hotel's exterior did little to inspire confidence, with a disheartening sight of a pile of a dozen mattresses haphazardly stacked by a carport. This scene did not contribute positively to the hotel's ambiance or our overall perception of its quality.
In summary, while the Rodeway Inn Historic benefits from its prime location and certain room amenities, the lack of timely and effective communication from the management, coupled with cleanliness and maintenance issues, made our stay less than satisfactory. Potential guests should weigh the convenience of the location against these...

Read moreThe associate whom checked me in the hotel wasn't very pleasant. It was my first time visiting this Rodeway Inn hotel location in VA. I was rushing to quickly find a hotel with a vacancy. I did not see the "pull door handle" sign on the hotel doors entrance so, I rang the bell for someone to open the door. When I got to the front desk, the associate asked me "why did you ring the doorbell if the sign says use the doorknob?" I said "I was not paying attention to it, I did not see the sign." He proceeded to say something like "the sign is big right there". I responded with "I just didn't see the sign man" in a slightly irritated manner. Also, when I got to the front desk after walking into the establishment, I greeted the man at the front desk. He only looked at me and did not greet me back before he started to help me. While he was looking for a room, I told him I will pay with cash. The man told me there will be a deposit if I am paying with cash. I asked how much is the deposit. He told me wait a minute. I proceed to wait then he made the key cards and handed them to me. There was no deposit needed if I paid with cash. I am not sure of the man's name whom helped me at the front desk but he is not very pleasant/welcoming to customers to have a front desk job. He was an average build Caucasian man. I hope he receives training on the importance of appropriate speech in the workplace while working at the front desk. My room was pretty good and stocked with the appropriate items a hotel room comes with. Parking was good as well. I did not utilize the free breakfast or pool areas of the hotel room while...
