Empie Park — Attraction in Wilmington

First time here, close by. Decently sized with shade, access to plenty of water. There is soft vinyl pool there for dogs to splash around in which was quite stagnantly gross, and doesn't appear to be cleaned often. Which was reported to me by other dog owners. Pet owners friendly. 🚻 not too far away. Inadequate parking for designated for dog park visitors that are taken over daily by womens running group or cyclist groups, that meet pretty regularly. This complaint was also brought to my attention per local pet owners during our visit. When pet owners have kindly asked that they not take up the majority of parking spaces right at the dog park and to please utilize parking closer to towards the 🚻, which are plenty. They disregard and appear to have no consideration, as though they are entitled. It's always nice to find a place to bring your dogs to be out in nature, socialize, and get their needed exercise. I am grateful/thankful. Yet, that pool must go or be regularly cleaned...

I recently visited Empie Park while running errands for work and have to say that this is just another beautiful park and sports complex maintained by New Hanover County.The facilities here include a dog park, picnic shelters, numerous tennis courts,the Althea Gibson tennis Complex, bike and jogging paths, a children's playground, baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, and shuffleboard, horseshoe and bocce courts.The entire facility is meticulously maintained and everyone should visit and take advantage of all that Empie Park has...

Already loved this park but now that it's been newly updated it's even better. The equipment is accessible for almost all ages and there's a good number of spots to sit down. There's also a small walking trail that is nice to walk around and short enough that the kids don't complain too much. There are even a bunch of "yard games" that you can play (if you bring your own equipment) like horseshoes. I guess my only complaint would be lack of shade so it can get pretty toasty. Overall a lovely park, just another one to add to the list...
