So.. I was looking for a small intimate place where we could sit relax and enjoy just being out. The restaurant does all of this very well. From my understanding it is owned by two women, who normally have one cooking and one serving. When we visited one of the ladies had been injured and it was a one-woman show. For some this might not be your cup of tea. The service while great does take a bit of time. The food was excellent I was amazed that she was able to not only take the orders serve the food and cook it and did so with quite a bit of efficiency. I heard every table around me commenting on how they enjoyed the food. We truly enjoyed everything we had and the creme brulee for dessert was delicious. I ordered the cioppino and she told me right up front that it was going to take a bit of time to cook and for me that was not an issue. It's a very charming quaint atmosphere but not upscale or stuffy. There are two tables inside and then you sit outside on the patio. If you're looking for great food with a relaxed atmosphere this is the place. If you're a demanding person in a rush I would not go here. I cannot stress how impressed I was at the amount of work the owner did I did not get her name...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews unless an experience is extremely bad or extremely good but I felt should write about this one because many people said it was the best restaurant they’ve been to in South Florida but I didn’t think it was anything to write home about. The artichoke bottoms were good, as was the french onion soup, but frankly, none of it was anything special. Shepherd’s pie (their bestseller) needed salt and the bacon that wrapped the tiny scallops tasted like your average store-bought bacon. The atmosphere is cute but keep in mind there is no AC and little lighting because you must sit outside as there are only two 2-person tables inside. Again, nothing particularly bad to say about this place but it didn’t feel like gourmet, authentic French cuisine- just average french-ish. No coffee available with dessert because they don’t have a coffee machine, we didn’t drink any alcoholic beverages so can’t speak of the wine. Service was good and the owner/server was nice, clean bathroom and tables, and everything just nothing really special.
For context- nothing special in comparison to other French cuisine I’ve had in South Florida, Spain,...
Read moreThis was my first authentic French cuisine and it was fantastic! The cook/waitress was very personable.
My bud had the French onion soup which I'm not usually a fan of. I sampled it and it was amazing. The soup wasn't salty, it had just the right amount of cheese, and the filling had chunky bits but I couldn't identify. Guessing a cross between bread, and a pie crust consistency - Magic!
The Truffled baby Beef Wellington was delicious, a very light meat-filled pastry.
The Curry chicken pastry puff was very tasty and reminded me of Indian curry dishes.
I sampled my bud's Basil Gnocchi & Bacon and it was an explosion of flavor. We both thought each other's dish was better.
The lady was working solo that night and warned us there would be a wait. She had one table left and offered it to us and said it could be 20 minutes before she even sees us. We were thankful and accepted because it's so hard to get into this place without a reservation.
Bless her heart, she was doing it all by herself and killed it! A standard issue human being would possibly show their frustration and service quality would take a hit. Not here! Can't wait to...
