CMX Grand 10 Cinemas — Attraction in Winter Haven

The first 2 times I came with friends were nice and comfortable! It was fun, and people respected others in the movies, but the other 2 times I came here (with my siblings) it’s been nothing but people who don’t care about others who are trying to watch the movie! During the five nights and Freddy’s movie, there were a group of girls taking FLASH photos next to us, it would just be a flash photo AFTER a flash photo. People around them were also getting annoyed by these photos as the movie had JUST started, and one man even called them out for it, “Turn the camera off!” A man said that sat in front of them. They proceeded to take these photos and kept moving back and forth out and in from the movie. They laughed and giggled, which caused a huge distraction to me as I tend to get very easily distracted. I went home to tell my parents that I didn’t enjoy the movie and that I couldn’t hear half of what the actors were even saying as I was distracted by these girls. I had to download the movie my self AT HOME just to rewatch and understand what happened in the movie. These girls were rude, and had no respect for those around them.

The second time I went to the movies with my siblings were not to long ago, we were watching the new Wanka movie, and as the movie was just starting, we see smoke in the air, we’re sitting at the top, and the light of the movie projection made it easy to see the smoke in the dark theater. We’re DIDNT know what it was until we saw more smoke, it was someone vaping one row down us, we thought this was as well distracting and rude to the people around us. As they inhaled the vape again, they coughed and coughed during the movie.

I really wish this place would get better, and I understand it’s hard to get better when it’s these people who are ruining it for others, but maybe this time I can talk to manger about it if it happens again. I just find it sad that “I” someone who just turned 15 years old, have to report these people who don’t care about others. I’m here to enjoy a movie with my siblings, this isn’t a “photo booth” or a “safe vape/smoking” area. If you wanna do these things, please take it outside of the movie theater.

(Small note I forgot to add: The movie theater seems like it’s not cleaned as much as it used to be last time, I found trash in the cup holders which grossed me out, but I tend to get over it, this has also become a problem since these types of people have showed up.)

My brother, son and I went here to see Top Gun Maverick. Of course we thought the movie was great! We went on a Tuesday. It is their Super Value Day. These prices are for all showings. The movies are $5 plus a $1.99 upcharge for premium or blockbuster movies. We paid the upcharge. They do offer things like senior and student discounts on other days. There might be a military discount too but I can't remember. They also have a Movie club. You ask for a card at the ticket counter, no charge, and they will post the tickets you buy to it for you to earn rewards. Free items at the snack counter. I'm not sure if you can earn free tickets. I never got that far in points. Always got free stuff for snacks. They also show popular films like we saw on multiple screens at multiple times. They also run two or more weeks depending on the popularity. The lobby is very clean. I also noticed someone at the snack counter wiping things down, between customers, with a spray cleaner. The theaters are also very clean and seats are comfortable and in good repair. Note to the theater: There is a handicapped seat in theater one that the screen is partially blocked because of the placement of another handicapped seat that's on the other side of the aisle in front of the first seat. I sat in the first seat. I couldn't move and stay with my family. I was the handicapped person. The bathrooms were also clean. Kind of unusual in a movie theater. We were there during a 4:30 showing. It wasn't extremely busy at that time. I found the staff here to be very pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend this theater. Especially on a Tuesday and in the afternoon for seniors. Went to see movie tonight at this theater. During the previews my wife and I were stunned at the audio quality in theater 1. Went to ask someone about it as the feature started and no one around. As my sun had a cameo in the movie my wife and I tried our best to sit thru the movie. At about the 45 minute mark the sound was so bad we could not even stay with the story of the movie and we were about to walk out. As we were starting to get our things the video went totally dark. We stayed another 5 minutes and the audio was still playing but video never came back on. Went to find someone to get a refund and a lady went to find a manager. Spoke to male manager and he said since everything was closed down and all he could do was give me replacement tickets. I’m from out of town and asked him if he had seen the reviews of his location and he said he had. ( I had pulled those reviews up after the audio issue was first noticed.) I asked for info of his manager and he gave me the info of a female manager and I’m going to try to addressed tomorrow as this was an absolutely horrendous experience and I feel sorry for the folks in the Winter Haven area that have to endure an experience at this theater. Will provide update as meet will manager Jenna. Update: following this review and subsequent response from owner, I was able to stop by the cinema and receive a full refund of my tickets. I spoke to the manager about the previous situation and he indicated that the audio issue had been resolved.
