Gracen Style Beauty Salon — Attraction in Woodbridge Township

I visited Gracen Style for the first time this week for leg waxing. I am usually a loyal customer of my local European Wax Center or Linden Wax and Skincare. These establishments have licensed aestheticians, less availability and are very clean and pristine. As a result they have much higher prices, and books are always tight with appointments I now understand the true difference. I had a special event this weekend, needed a service done and both of my usual spots closed early so I Google searched and ended up at Gracen in Woodbridge, NJ

I want to include in my review that the lady who waxed me was sweet, and actually did a really great job. But there were some clear problems.... like some other people had mentioned, she started using the Aloe Vera wax on me which is more expensive without telling me there was a price difference. I get now that she probably assumed I was going to use a Groupon but I actually didn't even know about it and I believe that you should always give your customer the OPTION, it's just deceptive. Mid-appointment I sat up and asked her to please switch to the regular wax not even because I realized it was more costly but because I do not find the roll-on wax application to be sanitary as she had not used a new cartridge for me and that same one touches other people's skin and intimate areas..

She began to use the wax pot and stick and I had to ask her to please use a fresh stick and check repeatedly that she was changing it, I caught her double dipping in the wax multiple times. This is never ever a problem at the other more well known wax salons and is the reason why I always choose them no matter what the cost because I don't have to worry that they will put the client at risk. Gracen Style was actually a clean and very cute beauty salon, but it is unsanitary and improper to reuse materials and you can contaminate a wax pot trying to conserve money or materials. That is not okay, I'm sure it is actually probably a health violation and is the reason why I will not return. The prices here literally cannot be beat but I'm SCARED to think about how they would go about doing more invasive or intimate treatments such as a brazilian, or microblading with needles, etc..which are services they do offer. I recently visited this salon for a Brazilian wax and eyebrow shaping service, but the experience was a disaster. The technician failed to remove all the hair from the front bikini line and didn't even touch the back area, despite my explicit request for a full Brazilian wax. She also tried to upsell me on different types of wax, claiming that the aloe vera option would incur an extra charge of $7, which I paid. However, the service was still incomplete.

To make matters worse, the eyebrow shaping was a catastrophe. I had grown my eyebrows for 4 months to get them to a specific shape, and I emphasized to the technician that eyebrows are a very important part of one's face - perfection is key! Yet, she pulled my skin and chopped off too much hair, leaving one eyebrow significantly thicker than the other. When I pointed out the mistake, she denied it and claimed that I didn't have enough hair on the other side.

I suspect that the subpar service was due to my use of a Groupon, which I had purchased after confirming with the salon that they would honor the price. It seems that they didn't provide the same level of service that they would have for a full-paying customer.

Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the service and will not be returning. The technician was unprofessional, didn't listen to my needs, and did a substandard job. I would advise others to avoid this salon at all costs! Save your...
