Today I had a horrible experience at the bakery. I have been to this store several times this week and it seems more and more they are out of simple items.. which I get because of the holiday and Covid getting worse. My issue is with the bakery Dept, they never seem to have anything I need or they have it, but it’s not out. This is the third time this week I had to ask for bread. Several days ago they were out of the country sour dough bread, which is fine. Then the other day the basket was empty but they helped me get the bread that was already prepared just not put out yet. Well today at 8:45am, there was none of the 3 breads I needed out and all of the baguette baskets were out. If it were for me I would have just left, but this was for someone else. I asked the lady Linda behind the counter about the seedless rye bread, she said it would be hours, so I chose a different rye, no big deal. Then I went to get the baguettes I needed and noticed none of them were out so I asked her for two of these (I believe it was the multi grain) and she gave me such an attitude as if I was bothering her. I started to leave and realized I had two more regular baguettes on my list. I turned around saying I was sorry to bother her, but could I have 2 of the regular ones. Again she bagged what was behind the counter but she did it begrudgingly. I asked why the bread wasn’t out? Oh, she caught the biggest attitude and went into telling me about all of the bakery department issues as to why the bread wasn’t out. I told her I didn’t care about their internal issues and I just didn’t need to get an attitude from her when I just wanted to buy bread. Well she kept going on about the issues in her Dept. I said “I don’t care”. Honestly, I’m the type that just wants to get in and out of a store and not have to beg for products that should be readily available. I don’t like to bother staff, but not once did she apologize about the items not being out for shoppers, instead she got so defensive. I have my own problems (as we all do), I don’t come to shop to be a therapist for the bakery Dept.. then for some reason some older black women who also works there started getting involved, walked over to me and was also rude. She sarcastically started repeating “have a great day ma’am” as if bread was going to ruin my day. I was astonished as to how they are out of a product or didn’t put it out for customers and not once do they apologize or seem gracious in providing the product. I have been a customer service manager before and while I don’t believe the customer is always right, I do know that the customer is the one that pays the salary of the associates at the end of the day by purchasing actual products . After leaving there today I then went over to Shoprite and it was such a better experience. Perhaps it’s Union vs non- union, I’m not sure, but Shoprite in my opinion is far superior. Wegmans has all the bells n whistles but Shoprite has more down to earth employees and the store is more organized and has a much better layout, plus I got my free turkey which Wegman’s doesn’t offer. Wegman’s also is out of many products and I found everything I needed at Shoprite. I spent over $400 at Shoprite this month and that’s money that could have went to Wegman’s. I typically shop at both places, but I’ll def be doing my primary shopping at Shoprite. Linda sealed the deal for me today. I seriously hope the store manager can review the store camera (if there is one) to use for future training regarding this interaction. One last thing, many of the lights in the freezers around aisle 14A are out so you can’t see the products.....
Read moreAlright. I have officially been converted to a Wegman's fan.
I've been here a few times prior to the pandemic (this location and others) and just thought it was okay. My fiance always raved about how much he loved Wegman's (yup, this is what happens when you're 30+. You have a favorite supermarket). My first impression was that most of their items were more expensive than regular supermarkets. But maybe I was just looking for the wrong items. Since the pandemic, we've been frequenting Wegman's a lot more than before and I've found that this is actually the opposite. The prices of their produce and meat are comparable to a typical supermarket's sale prices. For the meat, you can definitely save a few bucks in the long run if you just buy the family packs and freeze what you can't use. The produce is usually pretty fresh. And don't get me started on the Wegman's brand line of products. Most of everything I've tried from the Wegman's brand is great quality and significantly cheaper. I love their sliced/shredded cheeses because it tastes great, lasts for a while, so I usually just stock up on a few to keep in my fridge. Their 12-pack of seltzer is only $2.99 and although the 'unique' flavored ones are not great (avoid Dragonberry, whatever you do), you can't go wrong with plain, lemon, or lime.
There's also a sandwich corner where you can get sandwiches made to order (my favorite is the chicken tender sammie). I'm not sure if it's open now because of Covid but it was our favorite stop to pick up a sammie before hitting the beach, pre-Covid.
On top of the great supermarket deals, there's also a liquor store connected that sells a variety of $6 bottles of wine. I haven't tried all of them but out of the ones I have, it seems like it's hit or miss. But hey, it's $6!
As for social distancing measures - the first couple of times we came (usually a Saturday at around 9), there would be a line wrapped around and maybe about a half hour wait. But since July or so, there hasn't been a line. It is a bit more crowded now (as of August) but at least everyone has to wear a mask per the state's mandate.
We only come here once a month since it's a 40-minute drive, but it's worth the trip. Also, shoutout to the fact that they were the only ones out of all the stores we've been to, who had flour in stock at the beginning of the pandemic, when everyone (including ourselves) was trying to bake...
Read moreI typically don’t give reviews but this location DESERVES it. Everytime I come here the Customer Service is 10/10, actually a breaking the scale rate!!! I would like to give a huge shoutout to the managers and team members for always providing an amazing experience for myself and my family. I would like for you to read this review during your team meetings to recognize such amazing service.
A few weeks ago my six year old daughter was in so much pain and wasn’t feeling well, with continuous crying she wanted to exit the store. As I was paying, the store associates and manager were so concerned and accommodating to her needs. They kept trying to make her feel better and take her mind off of the pain by asking her Disney questions as we were trying to get through the cash wrap experience. One of the associates even gifted my daughter a “Stitch” Keychain to hold on to and to keep (BIG SHOUT OUT TO YOU) I wish I got your name, but hopefully you remember this interaction and know your efforts were appreciated!!! Thank you for going above and beyond.
6/17/24 Today I came to the store with my 7 week old newborn in the car seat, which almost took up the entire cart. The cashier blessed my family by offering help and got assistance for someone to bring another cart and lend a helping hand. This is when I met Joey (Cart Attendant) who gracefully followed me to my car and loaded the groceries for me. It was a pleasant experience and I was truly grateful for the kindness that was administered today.
As a former customer service employee, I understand the typical day as an retail worker and I know some days may be harder than others but the employees here at the Woodbridge location never showcase negativity and actually will make your day a better one. Thank you everyone for all your hard work and going above and beyond !! If I were a mystery shopper your location passed with flying colors !!! Great job...
