One of our favorite swimming holes to visit in NH! We have been traveling to NH annually for 25+ years. We first found this place maybe 20 years ago and it was a gem! It is still a wonderful place to go swimming, plenty of shallow spots for the little ones, with fast rapids in other spots for the bigger kids. It's very Rocky so wear swim shoes and be prepared to slip. Be cautious of the wet rocks, they are deceivingly slippery. The nice part is, this park abuts a little town, with adorable shops and quant resturants. There is also a playground and ice cream parlor for kids. Its alot of fun! The only downside is 20 years ago it wasnt well known. We would go and spend the day and there would be maybe 15 other people there. In current years its obvious the place is becoming popular and well liked because it is soooo much more crowded! I am still a fan, but its become too popular for us to spend a whole day. The crowds are just too big. So we usually swim and play for a couple hours then change up and hit the town. We prefer our quiet less known swimming holes when planning to spend the full day. Still a lovely place to cool off and have fun, but I wish they would ban radios and speakers because some people think that the whole world loves to hear their music and that's just not the case for us. I prefer to hear the water and kids playing rather than Decpicito blasting through my ears. Otherwise tho, it's still...
Read moreBrought the grandkids and they loved it here! We spent the day, and since we forgot our own, we rented some tubes for $5 at the gas station across the street. It's right in town so we grabbed some food. Plenty of free parking. The kids had a great time sliding down rock slide and catching little minnows in the smaller rock pools. Just be careful the banks to get to the river is kind of steep and the rocks in the water are very, very slippery! Even with water shoes. I got a few bumps and bruises from slipping twice! Best part...
Read moreCascade park was lots of fun. I will warn you though, it is EXTREMELY slippery in many areas of the natural falls. Lots of algae on the rocks. You honestly have to be super careful walking around the cascades. We witnessed a pretty bad fall and it was scary for everyone. Not a great place to bring babies or the elderly. The public parking was easy. It had 2 port-a-potties in the lot and they were well maintained. It is also within walking distance to a store that sells tubes, as well as restaurants and an...
