Pros:||Great location||Lots of inventory (probably a reason for that)||Well-staffed (by people who need training), office open late||Nice little store with expensive ice cream cones (if you're into that)||||Cons||Mediocre WIFI ("You must have been told it was spotty!”)||Staff that lacked knowledge of the WIFI product feature.||Owner that lacked knowledge of the WIFI product feature -- despite "we paid an insane amount of money on it."||Rude owner who said, "If you don't have WIFI, too bad. I'll refund your money and you can leave."||Tiny bath house with one shower and two stall.||||A complaining customer is a marketing gift. Frustratingly, most RV Park owners just don't get it. ||||Think about it, the product specs are ridiculously simple: A level parking spot; trees are a bonus. Picnic table and fire pit. Water and electric hookups. Public bathrooms and ample showers. And WIFI. Yes, WIFI. How could you screw this up?||||This was my second visit here. Again I asked for good WIFI, which they advertise. The first time it was not bad, but spotty; that semi-good spot wasn’t available this time, so … about 15 minutes later the employee decided to give me Site #2.||||When I arrived and set the trailer up, no WIFI. Not even a hint of a signal. The next night, I stopped into the office and dared to ask, what gives? Hey, I really tried to get what I was looking for. The owner happens to be in the office, and drags me out to show me all the WiFi antennas. An employee follows me out and says, "It was spotty for you the last time, remember?" I told them: I can't even SEE the signal! The problem is, I was just sold the wrong site. ||||Or ... what's the problem?||||The problem is this: The product feature is viewed as a necessary evil. Why? The owner could send one of his teenage staffers out with a cell phone (as I eventually did), drive around to each site and write down the number of bars, come back and put them in a simple spreadsheet. When a customer like me calls and says, "WIFI is super important!" the (hopefully trained) employee looks up the spreadsheet and gives me a range of numbers I could pick from. If the teen reports back dead areas, the owner could bring back that highly paid WIFI installer and correct his mistakes -- or yet, install a beefed-up system that truly delivers the WIFI product feature throughout the park — each and every site. It's quite possible, because I've experienced it (often for a lot less money too).||||Instead, I'm left feeling really pissed off. Lose-lose. ||||It isn't the first time. Too often, RV park owners set the bar where they want to, not where their customers want it set. I would have paid a premium for a site with good Internet. But all that was really necessary was for the owner to care enough to train staff where the WIFI signal is strong and where it is not.||||I met the owner, and he just doesn't give a damn. If you choose to go here and have a good stay here, you had just dumb luck (accent on the “dumb”). ...
Read moreDONT CAMP HERE THEY ARE AWFUL. They are so so so rude, give your money to anyone else. Go to the sites of the KANC instead, just make sure you go early for first come first serve.||||This hole is quite run down which is tricky for a campsite. The site we were at had no trees around it and was very small, making us touch the neighboring tent. It was like we were just in a field instead of the woods, but if that field is next to a busy open road. ||One night it rained causing there to be a flood in our camp site, a river literally formed and starting taking away our things. Because of the pool of water our tent was now surrounded in it. The tent began to blow away when the stakes were being washed away. We were forced to take everything down and pack it up getting completely drenched in the dark.||Although we were okay camping in the rain when we planned the trip, we did not expect to pay for a site that was BOUND to be flooded, and impossible to be lived on even with the smallest amounts of rain. The "family owned" camp ground never gave us a heads up about how the bad the weather would make the site UN-LIVEABLE. They either dont care about customers and only want money, or are too ignorant to know their campground better.||||I went in the office drenched just to tell them that we were leaving because of the flood, and asked if there was any refund they can do and they just say no, cutting me off as I spoke. And not once apologize for the situation or that the site flooded our tent. I left a puddle in there from the 2 minute conversation and wasn't even offered literally anything. They blankly stared at me and one even said "maybe its better this way you'll beat traffic", I thought they were trying to make a joke so I laugh. Why would a broke college student pay for an extra night for fun? They stared at me blankly again, when I realized they were serious, as if I should be thanking them for the advice.||||I called them the next day to inquire more, like possibly getting a partial credit for another night since we didnt even stay because we COULDNT, and the woman gave such a rude attitude. No hospitality at all. ||She blamed me for camping that weekend, instead of admitting that the site should not have been rented if it wouldn't be working with the weather!!||||They couldnt control the weather but they CAN CONTROL CUSTOMER SERVICE. ||They told me I was complaining too much and that I should have asked to move sites when that happened, so she wanted us to repitch our flooded tent IN THE DARK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORM. She screamed at me and said I should have checked the weather more, and that they had no idea what the weather would be. She said other people were flooded in the site, so I shouldn't be upset it was not just me, everyone got screwed over. The ONLY apology I got was a sarcastic one when I said I paid for nothing, and that I would be writing a bad...
Read moreUpdate: Our 2018 trip was a DREAM. The new owners know their stuff. Since my kids are little we chose to stay in a cabin. The owner seemed a bit embarrassed and mentioned renovating them soon--but they were really rustic and basically perfect. They aren't luxury cabins, and I really don't want a "luxury" cabin--I want to enjoy camping. The wood we bought was damp and hard to start, but it had rained the past 3 days. We played in the river, enjoyed local attractions and had an absolute blast.
2013 Review: (5 star) Maple Haven is our choice spot for our annual camping trip for years with friends, just after labor day. (2010 and onward) The bathrooms were always clean, the campground quite and pleasant, the owner's bassets were very sweet with my dog. They were amazingly kind to my friend's daughter and seemed to understand kids and told us how to get to the river, play area, etc. They told us where it was safest to enter the river with her. They frequently did rounds to ensure that we were comfortable and they enforced quiet hours.
2015 Review: (2 star) It seems they'd just given up. For the entire weekend, we didn't see anyone. One family of RV'ers with 8-10 kids (cousins, I was told) ran riot over the campground, cutting through our site and once leaving a screaming pre-schooler alone in the river near our campsite as punishment for not keeping up with his teen and pre-teen cousins. The parent's didn't care, and when I told them about the access to the river they said they were never told. Not sure if it was true based on their lack of caring in general, but every year regardless of our knowledge the sweet older woman would let us know about all the campsite's features. Later on that night the site next to us did fireworks on multiple occasions, and were not...
