This is a beautiful space, but sadly it is not available to most of the community in which it is embedded.
You are prevented from running on the paved paths or walking your dog through the cemetery. In two years of living in Marietta, I have rarely seen anyone on the grounds. You can look from afar, but the restrictions make it impossible to visit.
Because our tax dollars support this space, I would hope that the folks in charge could consider a compromise to the rules. If cars can loudly drive on the paved paths, then I think runners, walkers, and dogs should be welcome as well.

   Read moreThe cemetery is laid out in such a way that makes it easy to find any grave. It is very well maintained all year round. Some of the Civil War heroes are also laid to rest here. The "Unknown Soldiers" have their place as well. I am so proud to say my father is here. I am grateful to all those who fought and gave their all for future generations, and to be able to visit their resting place and say a thank you is just spine chilling.
