My partner and I simply love Cuban food and I was excited to see that we had another option/selection in the area.
We decided to give it a try, last night. It's really kinda amazing what they've been able to do and achieve with the inside of this location. If you'd ever been to the location when it was the "Square Bagel," you'd know how cramped it was. This redo has made it almost spacious on the inside. The decor is nice and it is simple. One of the odd things is the height of the bar. The bar is essentially about 6 inches too high. When you're sitting at it, it almost feels like you're reaching up to get your food or drinks. I'm not sure how that was missed during construction but it is not conducive to comfort or conversation. I look forward to them adding real menus as opposed to photo copied sheets of paper. I can see these becoming soiled quickly.
Being that we would not be able to comfortably eat at the bar, we waited for a table. The wait was quick and it allowed us to have a drink or two. I had what was supposed to be the amazing margarita. It was a margarita. A little too much ice for my liking but it was not horrible. It certainly was not amazing.
We decided to start with a sampler and to order an additional empanada. All were tasty. The ham croquettes were a bit of a strange consistency and I can't say that we'd order them again. But, I think that we will simply order the emanadas, alone.
My other half had the Jerk Chicken Sandwich and fries. The chicken was flavorful. It had a bite but not one that would be overpowering unless it were for someone that did not like any spice. The fries were crisp and had a nice flavor. I had the ropa vieja sandwich and black beans. Again, not the best that I've had but certainly was ample and tasty. I would have liked a bit more flavorful. The black beans were simply black beans.
With the portions and the amount that they provided, we did not have room for dessert. The desserts did look delicious. That will have to be a next time thing.
One of the things that the restaurant does really well is in making the customers feel welcome. Everyone was friendly and concerned with the well being of the diners. This restaurant is still new. Certainly they are likely fine tuning their selections and recipes. That is to be expected. We will be back. And this is a nice addition to the Marietta...
Read moreI don't know what bothered me the most about our experience, if it was the lack of communication, the kitchen service, or the long wait for our food. It wasn't even busy. First, now last time visiting this place. I'm Hispanic. I speak very fluent English and Spanish. I spoke Spanglish here. Repeated our order several times as it seemed as if they don't know the items they are selling off their own menu. We stopped in for Café con leche, refreshments and picaderas, you know, a snack. We ordered 3 items off the appetizer menu, one which was $5.99, another that was $9.25, and another that we thought was going to be another $9.99 plus the 2 refreshments and café, I thought was going to be around $30 give or take a bit. Over $50 and they got the orders wrong and didn't explain themselves clearly after I asked about 1 of the appetizers twice before receiving. What the heck? Not to mention how we waited nearly an hour for APPETIZERS, not full meals, appetizers, after 5 other people came in at least 15 minutes after we arrived, ordered full meals, got served, ate, and left and we still didn't get our food. After getting it and realizing how wrong it was, naturally we still ate it since we had not had nothing to eat all day because we were too busy conducting business all morning nearly an hour away from home, this was late in the afternoon. We had finished working, was going shopping afterwards so we stopped by for what I thought was going to be a quick bite because we were going to eat dinner elsewhere later in the evening. Instead they wasted 2 hrs of my time and was definitely not worth the mishap nor the overpriced incorrect food items we received over an hour later. Never, ever again. Btw, the waitress was very sweet just very uneducated about the items on the menu. Should've stuck with my gut and gone to Papi's Cuban...
Read moreIt was my birthday weekend and i just woke up from a nap and wanted to go grab a Turkey Cuban that I thought I got last weekend from this Cuban spot. Upon entering I was still sleepy, tired, sweats/hoodie type of ordeal… but the guy still greeted me with a smile and told me to sit and order. I realized I was that tired that I forgot to even sit down and order since I wasnt taking it to go. Since it was my birthday weekend, I asked my waiter Luiz (MADE THE BEST NO CAP BUT THE BEST MARGARITA I HAVE EVER HAD! Even been to mexico and still have not had a better margarita then the one he made)to hook me up with a “Turkey Cuban”(I was confused with the Cuban restaurant next door). When the order came it looked wonderful but then i took a second look at the meat and realize it was beef (I dont eat beef, chicken or pork). I asked another gentleman to notify Luiz to correct mistake and the sweet cook (Daya) came out with the menu and express what they offer. I was delighted and stayed and order a grouper cuban and BOY WAS I SURPRISED!!!! It was legit the best cuban I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE! For one I never had a Grouper Cuban and oh my God it was the best ever! I even went to Miami and had a Cuban sandwich and it was not the same! I Appreciate these people here Most certainly I appreciate the Cook for coming out to talk to me. She really is the reason why I made this review. (Below you will see a picture of both of the Cubans I got the regular Cuban and...
