FINAL UPDATE: Quoted $280 for a lid that wasn't broken because of a hinge that wasn't broken. They broke the screen in the process, refused to fix the screen unless we paid the quote - turns out the quoted part wasn't even damaged AND you can get the hinges individually for relatively cheap. Either this store intentionally price gouges you, or they are terrible with electronics. (Photos show the damage they caused, and how easy it was for a dummy like me to prove the lid didn't need to be replaced to begin with)
Whole the corporate team and Asurion has been kind and empathetic, they have no control over individual franchises and the owner of this one has no interest in correcting the actions of the supervisors or staff. You can find multiple places that will do your repairs for cheaper and don't have multiple one star reviews for breaking your devices worse than they arrive. I'd love to recommend Assurion as there customer service is fantastic, you can't really trust them unless you know whether it is a franchise or not.
TL:DR - sent my mom in with a laptop, they fully broke the screen and demanded payment to fix it. Store manager absolutely lost his mind and berated my family when asked what happened and in the end the part they wanted to replace wasn't even damaged, they had broken the screen for absolutely nothing and wanted us to pay to fix it. They lie, and they don't know what they are doing.
Laptop ended up far more damaged - brought in a usable laptop with a broken hinge, got back an unusable shattered screen with glass shards in the keyboard.
UPDATE: Employee called me back and said they would only fix what they broke if I paid the full price of the original quote - IE they will not repair the damage they caused and was met with more excuses and direct contradictions to the original statements. Not a single ounce of sympathy, not a "sorry you're having problems" just immediate excuses and deflection.
UPDATE: Spoke with the manager and he immediately started yelling and berating me. He demanded that he be allowed to yell at my elderly mother instead, said he had stalked my company reviews and that I was a nobody. It sure seems as though the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, with techs who break your devices and a manager who stalks you if you don't like it. Don't do business here.
I sent my elderly parents into the shop for a loose hinge on a pretty young laptop, to see if they could replace the single piece for cheaper than I could get it on eBay. The employees were specifically told that the screen needed to be held firmly on open and close to not put pressure on the screen. So with that it was dropped it off and we waited.
They called same day and stated that they'd need to replace the whole lid and screen - that could happen, sure (but didn't line up with the specs I'd looked at). But when the laptop was given back to us to make our final choice THE SCREEN HAD BEEN SHATTERED. The rep said that it could not have been the tech's fault because they never opened the laptop... How did they quote a full screen and lid replacement without ever opening the thing? Why was the hinge that used to be somewhat askew now all the way exposed?
So now they've broken my mom's Christmas present and accused her and I of lying. Accidents happen, it is how a company or person makes it right that matters. I expect less "We don't know how it happened" and more solutions or effort to...
Read moreI brought in a tablet to get the screen replaced. The initial service was friendly and fast I received lots of updates along the way. I got my product back the very same day, for obvious reasons. The new screen had visible dust trapped underneath which was noticeable once removing the plastic wrap placed on by the store. I returned my tablet a few days later as is within my warranty. The repair tech was rather standoffish and not very willing to help. He even stated âWell, you can only see the dust when the screen is off.â I then asked why the screen wasnât flush and all the way on my tablet the tech said the frame of my tablet was bent which is not listed anywhere on the notes from my first repair receipt. The note actually states specifically my tablet is in excellent order only has minor visible wear and tear. The tech had clearly not attempted to fix the error even after I returned the tablet. I had to wait a day and a half to even hear back from them about it. While I was in store the repair tech then shattered the ânewâ screen in what I can only guess was an attempt at cleaning it. He came back to the front of the store to tell me âIâll have it next week.â I call them two days into the next week to have Steve tell me it will be done later that same day. Now I made the mistake of stating âOk Iâll just come get it tomorrow.â After realizing this store is open pretty late I contact Steve again and ask if I can come get my tablet. He tells me he stopped all repairs and moved on to a new project once I stated I was coming the following business day to make the pick-up. No updates on my repair and then it still is going to take an additional business day after the quoted time to complete the repair. The customer service rep Austin was actually great and if I could give him alone 5 stars I would. My experience got a bit shaky once Steve got involved, which after reading other reviews this seems the norm. Overall a very mediocre rating...
Read moreWe dropped off a Nintendo 2DS XL with a broken screen about three weeks ago with a gentleman that said they would be able to repair the broken screen it had. He stated they would have to order a screen and someone would be calling us for an estimate. After two weeks, I called them to ask about the status of the repair. I was told that the screen was due in the next day and it should be ready for pickup. The next day they called and told me that the repair was more challenging than expected and it would not be completed for a couple days yet.
We received a call from them today where we were told that they had replaced the screen and that we had two options: Option1, let them continue to try to repair the 2DS which now has a new screen in it but can't seem to get it working and would likely cost upwards of $180. Option 2: we pick it up and owe nothing - but they didn't know if they could return it to the condition it was dropped off in. Since a new 2DS XL is retailing for $150, we decided to go pick it up and we spoke with the technician that was working on the device.
He basically said they offer no guarantee that the device wouldn't come back to us in a worse condition than they received it in since the whole process of fixing something that is broken doesn't always mean it doesn't gets broken worse. I was like SAY WHAT? He then stated that they were even debating buying a used one and trying to cannibalize another used one for parts to fix this one. I would not recommend this place to anyone with video game console issues for repair. Horrible...
