What a wonderful surprise! I cannot tell you how pleased I was to see the life pumped back into Central Market. The last time I was there was about a year ago and I thought that the market was standing on it's last leg( was having a slow death scene). It seemed somewhat deserted and sparsely populated. Sat. it seemed to have taken on a new life. New stands, new vendors, new businesses....and new people. At the back of the market where there is seating available, it was all done up with streamers and to top all off, they act at had an ensemble there ( 2 strings - violins or fiddles - and a bassoon. I cannot tell you how pleased I was to visit the new and improved market place. The vendors were so friendly saying " good morning" or "hello" to possible customers. It felt as though there was a resurgence of new blood coming into the market. Thank you Central Market for making me so proud to be a York Countian. What a delight to be able to share this with a girlfriend from...
Read moreWhat a wonderful market! Central Market in downtown York PA has something to offer for everyone. Housing a robust collection of prepared food, produce and craft vendors, the market makes for the perfect Saturday morning activity. Food options are diverse, ranging from fresh made pizza and bagels to sushi to Brazilian cheese waffles (must try). On the produce/grocery side, you have a wide variety of locally grown veggies and sourced meats available. Highly suggest checking out the oil and vinegar stand located towards the right side of the market, as they have some unique infusions that will elevate any home chef's creations. Prices overall are very reasonable considering the quality and locally sourced nature of the goods. Parking is relatively easy, as there are 2 garages within a block of the market as well as meter street parking (both are free on Saturdays). If you ever find yourself in York, definitely make it a point to stop by Central Market for some...
Read moreThe atmosphere is so charged with good vibes! Happy shoppers and vendors! Great variety! EBT cards accepted at some stands, such as produce. They have the most delicious honey crisp apples when in season! Something for every palate. Highly recommend this market! Not a flea store/ discount/ yard sale type market. More specialty foods. Good milk in glass bottles. Lots of healthy local food choices. Roburritos food truck now indoors at the market. Mezzogiornos binulati is very good and economical. Mezzo also open through the week on some days when the regular market is not. Some other restaurants also open on off market hours. Also does have a restroom. Free concerts in nearby Cherry Lane throughout the summer some days over lunch. If it's raining the music may be moved into the market. It's worth going to the nearby Soap store on Beaver St. just to smell the soap. I believe you can make your own soap also. Did you know Central Market is just East of...
