Island Park has great scenery. Its great location for hosting a bday party during summer. Lovely scenes of river flowing past and covered with trees. Makes it a great location for early morning / evening running. It feels so good while running along the river path. It has few bridges across the river that flows there. Those might need some maintenance. I didn't see a restroom but from other reviews, seems like there is one out there. It has two picnic shelters which can be rented from AA parks and Recreation. It has a play structure and a swing area. The kids will love it. A word of caution here.. Be careful with your toddlers or kids as there is no barricade or fence from the river. If the kids go there and slip by mistake, you would be in danger.. Njoy the...
Read moreA somewhat secluded park in Ann Arbor, right on the Huron River. The two pavilions are on the mainland. A short bridge takes you to the island, which has open space, a Greek revival style structure (often used for wedding photos), and a perimeter path. Another bridge takes you to another park along Fuller Road, but that gate is often locked. The larger pavilion at Island Park has picnic tables, a men's and a women's restroom, electric outlets (must be arranged in advance), and some shaded areas. There is also a spot for putting in / taking out canoes or kayaks. One drawback is that parking is limited, though it's possible to park in a field past the...
Read moreThe island was small and wet due to the rain, snow, sleet and high water in the river from the thaw. The picnic areas are certainly places where one could eat food. The mini-monticello picnic structure is pretty awesome, although smaller than it might seem. It does have a nice view up-stream.
There is a ton of goose feces all over the place. And the bridge that goes over the river away from Cedar Bend is sketchy at best. There are few holes in the planks that a dog's paw could easily go through. The jungle gym is OK, there is a substantially better one just a few mins walk...
