Plate Sushi & Chicken — Restaurant in Ann Arbor

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place in AA. We have been on the hunt for a new sushi restaurant to go to because we left our favorite one in Canton when we moved out this way.. LOOK NO FURTHER than Plate Sushi and Chicken!!

We went on a Monday night and we ordered the Veggie and Shrimp tempura as an appetizer. This tempura was AWESOME, the veggies were perfectly cooked and the shrimp was still incredibly juicy. (shrimp tempura usually dries out so easily) The sauce that came with the tempura was beautiful and complimented the tempura perfectly. Then we ordered 4 rolls to try: Yellowfin Scallion roll, Salmon Avocado roll, Caterpillar roll, and the Tokyo roll. The more simple rolls were a great break from the more complex flavors of the more complex rolls, and all the fish was tender and delish. The Tokyo roll was a bit large but most definitely worth the challenge of fitting the bites into your mouth because the flavors and textures were perfect together.I cannot speak highly enough of the quality ingredients they use. The food was altogether perfection!!

**I am usually nit-picky about the food we have when we go out because we both cook very well at home and I hate paying for food that I could make better at home.That being said, I have ZERO complaints about the QUALITY of food this new gem in AA prepares.

My only small complaint was that the restaurant was a bit chilly inside, but it was a cold winter's night when we dined in there and they have bid store-front style windows. That being said, I had a sweater on but I had to put my coat back on to feel comfortable. So if you're normally cold (like me)layer up if you plan to dine-in at this wonderful...

The woman who handles takeout was blatantly racist towards me. I was doing delivery orders with my fiancée who went inside to retrieve the first order we received, she returned to the car immediately after with no problems. As we are leaving we got another order so I decided to go in this time. I guess I looked suspicious while waiting patiently at the podium because she darts towards me as if she’s in a panic. Once I tell her the customer’s name she shows me the bag to confirm the name, which I agree to. No biggie, very standard. As the order is in my hand she SNATCHES it from me and tells me that I need to show her my phone so she can confirm the order. I am obviously dumbfounded because not only did she just snatch something out of my hand, my fiancée (who is white passing) went in directly before me and did not experience the same treatment in the slightest. For starters, she did not have my phone to confirm the order yet somehow was able to walk out without the bag being snatched from her hand. Secondly, the customer’s name I provided was ethnic and the bag was not facing me. Therefore, how would I possibly know the name of the order without being either that person or the delivery driver. Interesting that my white passing fiancée can pick up an order with a name that can be easily guessed with no confirmation but I had such a hard time with a name that is not.

I had the Beef Teriyaki Bento for lunch at Plate Sushi and Chicken, and it was a delightful experience! The interior of the restaurant was not only aesthetically pleasing but also quite comfortable, which was perfect for our group dining outing. The best part was that our food came out surprisingly fast!

The Beef Teriyaki Bento was a real treat. The teriyaki sauce was just the right balance of savory, not too sweet, and not too salty - it hit the spot perfectly. I’m already looking forward to my next visit, as I can’t wait to try all the other bento options on the menu. A great place for a delicious and satisfying meal! I had a fantastic experience at Plate Sushi and Chicken in Ann Arbor. I ordered the ‘Salmon on the Beach’ and the ‘Popcorn Chicken Bento.’ The meal started with a pleasant surprise - cucumber and crab for the appetizer, along with a bowl of miso soup before the main course. The portion size was generous, so I had leftovers for dinner, which was a bonus. The sauces were delicious, and the shumai was quite tasty. I’m looking forward to returning for another...
