Not very disability friendly, place is over packed with tables, not alot of room to manuever if you have mobility issues, and you can forget about it if youre in an actual wheelchair. They were also doing reshingling on the outside overhang, so loud sounds of hammer banging on wood throughout our meal. Again, since they close in the early afternoon the project could have definitely been done then as opposed to during the breakfast rush. Together made for an uncomfortable atmosphere.
Food has gone downhill, ive eaten here for 25+ years and what used to have time taken to produce a good experience now feels rushed and corners are cut. My food was a mix of over and under done, toast was burnt to charcoal on one side and put on plate with that side down - which they replaced when i asked, but why was it even sent out to begin with and hidden? omelette had veggies inside which were nearly raw, and room temp, not hot off the grill, try eating raw onions with your breakfast lol but id already sent back the toast and was trying not to be THAT customer.....i should have just complained. Sausage links were also undercooked and cold in the middle. Hashbrowns were burnt to a crisp on one side as well which is harder to tell until you start eating......but by that time our wait person either went on break or got pulled to the kitchen.....they had dropped off our bill first so no problem.....only it seemed no one was assigned to cover the table while they were gone and we'd only just gotten our food. We got refills for our coffees from other staff but had to request takeout boxes up front. Which then led to the cashier being overwhelmed and a bit short when asked for condiments at checkout - remember we had no server to ask and had run out at our table.
At that point i was just ready to go and didnt want to cause more trouble, but the interaction was borderline rude, i think they assumed the person with me was from another table but......theres a polite way to say things when youre customer service and they definitely snapped at us. Seemed like a microaggression like they wanted us to just hurry up and leave whether we had what we wanted/asked for or not. But we're paying customers right? Idk i was definitely getting discriminatory vibes, as the person with me was obviously a person of color and is who got snapped at..
Overall i was disappointed and my nostalgia of the place has been tarnished. For the price i paid (and yes i still gave a 20% tip because servers wages are not good) it was not worth it, and i dont think ill be back. Pay closer attention to food quality and maybe provide some sensitivity training to staff on how to interact...
Read moreI have been to this place in the past and it was really good, unfortunately that was not my experience today. Either they are under different management or just feel they have arrived and no longer needs to put out quality food and service.
The service was absolutely terrible. I placed a take out order and was told to wait at the table inside by Jordan. While I waited, I ordered a cup of coffee and was drinking my coffee at the table.
The restaurant was full, I had been waiting for 15 minutes for my take out and a group of four came in for a table. Jordan told them it would be about a 15 minute wait.
One of the older guys working there heard Jordan tell them there was a wait and asked him why they couldn’t be seated at my table. Jordan’s response was because it’s not available yet.
The older guy said “Is he waiting for takeout?” He then rushes to the back to check on my food. I suppose he rushed it because the sausage links are not done and the box was all messy.
So instead of allowing me to finish my coffee and wait for my food, he sends over the only black lady working in the restaurant to ask me to wait for my food outside on the porch in the cold and rain. She say we can turn the heater on for you.
I’m a black man and the only black person in that building besides this employee. Guess he thought it would go over better by him sending her to ask me to go outside.
By this time Jordan is bringing my food out to me in a hurry. Looking at my food, I noticed the box was covered with cheese and the sausages were not cooked completely.
I expressed to the lady I didn’t think it fair that I was asked to sit in the cold and wait for my food while I was drinking my coffee. She never apologized but was argumentative and cut me off and told me to listen to her.
I was a paying customer and if I came in to just have a cup of coffee, would I not be able to drink it at the restaurant. Would I be made to take my coffee to-go?
Please see pictures.
I used to like this place but never again will I eat here or make a recommendation to this place.
By the way Jordan was good! It was the other two....
Read morePretty sure all of these positive reviews are fake. I'm not sure how they are getting them. My breakfast for over $20 was skimpier than an $11 breakfast at the local diner or coney in any town.
I had a tiny amount of hash browns that looked left over that didn't even fill up the small plate they put them on. My pancakes were average and luke warm. The bacon was brutally thin and cooked to stiff crispness and seemed tiny.
The sausage links might have been brown n serve to be honest. The sourdough toast looked like regular white bread, maybe a step up from wonder so it wasn't square but rectangle instead. Definitely not like any sour dough I've had at a restaurant before.
I told the server about the hash browns and she said that was normal but I noticed by looking at other people's plates that they seemed to have larger portions. I remarked on this and she said it's because they had different breakfasts. Stupid me. I guess I should have known that I only spent $21 on my breakfast. Hashbrowns... Phah!
I do give points for the Apple Juice being in a large glass with no ice but that alone was $5.
So. After reading the good reviews, I know now that this is one of those places mindless people go because they heard from someone else that it's good. After all, being trendy is better than actual quality.
Definitely disappointed I spent $21 on this place. I feel like I just got robbed. And if you look at the receipt and noticed that I ordered extra food that is correct I did, which makes it even more disappointing on how skimpy this breakfast was. Absolutely ripped off!
UPDATED 1/16/2019
I just went to a local coney last night in Detroit on Michigan avenue. Not the cleanest or nicest of places, no hipsters, mostly empty.
I spent $9 I think or maybe $10 on a gigantic breakfast that I didn't finish because I was so full and I eat like a horse. Compare that to my experience here at this hipster, trendy place... Yea. I always find it sad when trendies go to a place like robots just because other people are doing the...
