Beautiful and quiet park. The trees and wildlife are really nice to see. Cool breeze thanks to the trees and pond. Restroom kind of took me by surprise. There is literally no door to close or stall door. For men this may be ok but as a woman I wasn't comfortable with it. I was glad my bf was with me. They do need a better way to monitor the rebellious kids that show up there. As we entered the park yesterday, a van load of teens and a set of parents pulled in, went straight to a crowd of other teens (boys & girls) and the parents watched as not only did their daughter start a fight but their son. What I found ironic was how they allowed the daughter to whip up on the other girl yet when their son started on one of the boys and started to get his tail handed to him. The dad shoved the other boy off of his son. They then called police... Smh yes, I remember the days of brawling but if you're coming for it. Take it or give it them go. It was a shame they picked a park where elderly ppl walk and live next to and smaller kids were there trying to enjoy their evening out of school. Otherwise. This makes the 2nd time I was there and over all, it was a good place to walk and get your cardio in, while in a...
Read moreOne of the nicest city parks I have ever had the pleasure to walk through! Also, being from a military family, this park pays a lot of tribute to the ones who fought and died for us. Make sure you bring something to feed all the animals that will literally walk right up to your feet. The thing that stuck out to me the most was all the healthy little exercising machines along the way, designef for children, while walking the sidewalk. It's good to see that because of the obesity problem in children today. Kudos to whoever thought of those little exercising stations, especially here in the state of Florida, where being healthy isn't exactly something you see everyday. I mean, I was mostly raised in the Midwest where thinking healthy is a lot more dominant than down here... especially with teenagers and young adults. Down here it seems EVERYBODY, young and old, smokes and a lot of them are so obese! Just take a stroll through any Walmart down here and you'll see what I mean. I don't remember the last time I actually saw an elderly person in one of those electric carts, if you know...
Read moreThis park is a GREAT community park! There are two full play grounds, each with two large pavilions (no reservations, so get there early on weekends) close by - great for parties or gatherings. There are two courts - one for handball, and multiple enclosed for tennis. Next to the courts, there is also a water park! There are barbecue and horseshoe pits (bring your own!) The park is beautiful, with LOTS of old, huge Oak trees. There is a walking trail and fitness path that is 5/8s of a mile long, all the way around large pond, with lots of different types of ducks, storks, egrets and herons. The park is dog friendly (pick up after your fur babies!) and has fitness stations at different intervals around the trail. Great for a stroll, exercise, or just sitting on a bench enjoying the beautiful view. By the Flag pole are various benches, plaques and marble structures, honoring locals veterans who have served our nation as well. 💜 If you Play Pokémon Go, there are two gyms, lots of stops (5 or 6 around the memorial area alone!) and is always...
