Quick review: A gem in z-hills Buffet: best bang for your buck Authentic dough // Quality Accommodating
Full review: Slice of the Hillz is a much need foodie delight - sparkling in the slew of mediocre family restaurants and the boring corporate food chains that make up what we know as Zephyrhills. Yes, there are a handful of gems in the area that stand in their own light; however, few of them can stand up to being both quality AND the ‘best bang for your buck’.
Had we not just come back from Italy less than 6 months prior to trying this pizza, I don’t know that I would have been as grateful for such authentic and quality dough. Slice of this Hillz makes their dough fresh daily and follows an authentic recipe you can taste! Personally, the dough is why we go; we truly enjoy the crust that much!
Overall, the buffet is delicious and what we order every time. Our nephew loves everything about the pizza (especially the sauce) and enjoys going just as much as we do. Personally, we feel the sauce is a bit sweet for pizza, but we also don’t typically prefer to mix savory with sweet flavors. So, don’t let this hold you back from trying this amazing pizza (as this is just our preference). In fact, a CHANTOEY TIP when visiting Slice of the Hillz — enjoy the amazing marinara/pasta sauce they have available on the buffet (add a bit of Parmesan for extra goodness). It’s so deliciously garlicky and perfect for dipping the gooey cheese bread and buttery calzones. Not to mention it’s a great add to any of the white sauce pizzas; especially our favorite, The Greek Pizza!
Every time we visit the staff is always so nice and accommodating. If there is a pizza you like, just ask and they will make it fresh for you. They ask us every time, without fail, what pizza can they prepare for us and we are never disappointed. If there is ever any issue at all, they truly desire to give you their best and correct literally anything (they are incredibly observant). So, if you are looking for a place that is a well oiled machine and is “perfect” to a corporate standard, you might be one of the individuals leaving this place a 1 star review. But if you are and individual that values quality food, family run and owned kindness, and having a meal prepared with such love that tastes like ‘nonna’ made it herself, then make Slice of the Hillz your next meal out and welcome this ‘not so hidden’ gem to town!
If nothing else, drop by to try their amazing dessert pizzas!

Read moreI just went with my family to try out this new buffet after hearing some small hype about it. And to be honest I’m completely disappointed AND disgusted. All of the pizzas were cold and either stale or super soggy. The plates they had out for everyone to grab were not wiped properly I had to wipe them down myself. I found one hair on my plate and another hair INSIDE the pizza. I noticed none of staff had any type of hair nets, and a man with a large beard also, had no net. The pizza is under a heating lamp and instead of replacing old uneaten pizza it just sits there until it’s gone. There is no priority in first in first out. The temperature of the food in hot holding was NOT heated. The lamps are literally just that. No heat emitting from it. The utensils had to be wiped down as well. There was zero labels on anything. What am I to do if I were allergic to something? The front lady that took our order had zero gloves on and went from touching the screen to rearranging pizzas, seemingly with nothing better to do. Again, no hair nets. I didn’t find any type of sanitizer or any sanitation besides the woman AGAIN WITH NO GLOVES, wiping stuff down. The cross contamination is wild and quite honestly baffling. From the seating, we could see three staff behind the counter in a window (assuming this is the kitchen) again with NO HAIRNETS! I cannot stress this enough. We paid $16 for cold pizza, BUTTER PASTA??(which was the only thing hot?? As well as not cooked properly and some overcooked) and one option of dessert. Blue cheese and ranch is right next to each other in the salad bar keeping in mind we have zero labels, and wings, fries etc are all an extra $10. This place is extremely overpriced for the quality and I would NEVER eat here again nor ever...
Read moreAfter a long warm day of being busy my wife and I thought we would try one of the newest restaurants in Zepherhills. We decided we would try the buffet for the first visit as so many "Buffet Pizza Places" are cardboard crust ZERO taste and light on ingredients. What we experienced tonight was none of those typical norms. The pizza was hot and lots of different selections. As well there was staff there who would constantly ask the customers what different type pizza's they would like made.
The pizzas kept coming and there was no time waiting for them to get out more, so different then chains we have eaten at previously.
There was a salad bar as well and it was fresh, well stocked and clean. There was a staff member working to keep clean and stocked.
There is also availability for menu food items that you could have made fresh for you. Inion rings, fries, wings are just a few of these items. We noticed that the other customers were very positive about the food and the queslity of it.
I did notice a client who asked a question about a certain type pizza and one of the owners, a younger man, asked if he could go make her what she thought might have been missing. He was going out of his way to make sure her experience was positive.
The over all experience with this restaurant was memorable for the care to seevice and the friendly people and it was very clean. Yes I said that multiple times as it was obvious they take it seriously.
If you tired of the norm then you need to try this place. The price is amazing for all you can eat. They even have desert Pizza.
We will be back again and will try menue items and see how things go. For now this gets 2 thumbs up...
