Rude, dated, and out-of-touch
The staff (which mostly consists of older females) is incredibly rude. I have literally been chased out of the 'Teen Room' although I was merely browsing the manga selection (which is kept in that room!). I have been asked if I "needed help" when I was browsing the children's section only because I was alone (these librarians all know and have and have seen my three children!). How do they know I have children? Because they have been routed from trying to discipline them by me! (Are you crones from the 1800s?!) I also believe that both I and my fiance have been treated poorly and differently due to our appearance and obvious sexual orientation. I am reluctant to have books ordered / held here or visit because it is such an uncomfortable, unpleasant, non-child-friendly, homophobic / biphobic experience. For those of you who actually believe this is a good library and the staff is "helpful" then either your standards are well below normal, you are actually one of the staff, or you haven't visited the New River and / or Hugh Embry branches of the Pasco Library System. Those branches and their staff understand customer service and that libraries should be child-friendly and adapt to these modern times. Not stuffy, dated, cob-web-lined, trapped-in-the-past structures where old men come to clear their throats and read the newspaper free of charge and elderly women float like specters poised to "shush" someone...
Read moreZephyrhills library is one of our small town GEMS!! They have a wonderfully vast selection of books, movies, audio books, computer availability, rooms available for meetings or even say a small book club (sounds like a fun idea) and an amazing and helpful staff. You can also save a TON of money if you simply have a library card which is FREE! Rent movies for your family or a date night, check out books for leisurely reading or school projects for your littles and they even offer books for purchase at little to nothing costs! The most expensive I've seen is perhaps $1!! And finally, it is a unbelievably gorgeous facility. It's the kind of library you'd see in much larger cities yet nestled in our oak tree laden streets of...
Read moreThey are friendly and very helpful. It's small and quaint. I love it. I took my son to the bigger library in Zephyrhills, off 54 towards Wesley Chapel, and they were mean and rude and actually told me to get a better handle on my autistic son. He was happy, so he was making happy noises. I told them that next time I bring him, I'll make sure he's in a bad mood. That way they would know the difference. Of course, I never went back. Instead, I like quaint. Small, friendly, understanding, and very helpful. Librarians and...
