Just had mine done and have mixed feeling about it. I agree with many of the tips mentioned, but they shouldn’t be mandatory or hidden in the final price—especially the private room fee. It feels unfair, as a male client might not mind a shared space, but female clients may feel the need to pay extra for privacy, which creates an unbalanced experience. And what if you’re a couple—are you charged double for the private room?
The massage itself was okay, but very different from what I’ve experienced in Thailand or Bali. Hot water to soak the feet was too hot so as the stones. Nothing relaxing about that. The therapist didn’t speak much English, but she was nice and did check on me a few times to see if I was okay—likely referring to the pressure, which I appreciated. However, I didn’t like that she attempted to crack my back and neck without asking. I never allow that, especially since it’s not...

However, the receptionist did a barely passable job in terms of politeness and the masseuse asked for double the tip. We tipped based on a local’s suggestion despite being told there isn’t a tipping culture here, but surprisingly she didn’t just subtly indicate she wanted a higher amount, but outright demanded it. We paid up straight away not wanting to be rude. But when I brought this up with the receptionist as an aside, her immediate response was that they expect a minimum amount. Perhaps instead of noting on their menu how “tips are voluntary”, they should include this rule in their menu instead. She brushed off the feedback in a fairly gruff manner; didn’t seem to even want to engage.
Anyway - go for the massage, not...

They were very transparent about this before I went in, and made sure to confirm with me exactly what I wanted from the menu. The foot massage included warm pillows for under the neck and over the eyes, a foot soak, reflexology work on the arms and hands, foot massage, calf massage, thigh massage, and a quick upright seated shoulder massage to wake you back up at the end before a final twisting back crack in both directions. Also a cup of tea, hand wipe, and a mochi treat. They provide clothes for you to change into for the treatment and the beds are very comfortable. Obviously there was a lot included in just a foot massage but most time spent...
