Not too far out of hanoi central (although the locals seem to think it's a long way away...2kms at most) taxi trips shouldn't cost more than 50000 dong from say the lake in hanoi...stand your ground on this one as we were definitely taken advantage of by one taxi...kicked up a massive fuss when they tried to charge 400000 dong..do not accept that. The staff at the hotel werw happy to translate our complete fuss over not paying that and sorted it out for us. Stand your ground!! 30000 on a scooter from hanoi is standard, max 40000 dong. Do not back down, and always half the price they offer and go from there. Westerners are seen as cash cows so always barter with the intent on your price not theirs. They do not like westerners arguing so will usually accommodate when they realise you aren't to be taken advantage of. There are so many great ways to get around hanoi and the local areas and always someone else who will accept your final price. and stick to it!! The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. The Vietnamese people are so kind and friendly and quickly realise we understand the bartering system. Stand your ground, or find another person who will happily accept your price. Half the price street vendors and stores and services the Vietnamese people offer and go from there.
The room itself wasn't anything flash but was a big spacious area. Western tv channels were available too which was great.
The room itself wasn't spotlessly clean, but manageable. Laundry services were available and prompt and great prices for this. The Vietnamese people are such helpful people, very kind and accommodating.
The bathroom flooded from the shower, and the toilet wasn't thoroughly cleaned to a higher star rated hotel which was a little iffy so the hotel served it's purpose of sleeping. No fancies here. Complimentary water and smoking available in the rooms. Funny that we were offered a box of condoms which makes us think it may be a hotel for adult services if you get what I mean. We were happy to just sleep there and head out during the day. Not a top end hotel, and I think the 2 stars advertised is barely holding on. Not the nicest area so keep your valuables on you at all times. Best not to leave them in your room...Just the vibe.
Most likely won't be back but a good experience either way. Thank you for your great customer service, as all staff were very very helpful and friendly. The owner needs to invest some money into the hotel and it could be better.
Thanks got a for your amazing customer...
