When visiting Phu Quoc it is well worth spending half a day exploring Grand World at the VinWonders Resort. Two of the ‘pay to enter’ attractions include the Teddy Bear Museum and the evening stage show spectacle ‘The Quintessence of Viet Nam’. We purchased a combo ticket online to visit both, which was well worth doing. From 7:45pm we entered the outdoor theatre area for ‘Quintessence of Viet Nam’ where a small pre-show with actors and props was already in full swing along a beautiful looking traditional street setting, filled with lanterns, exhibits and shops. Entry to both parts of the ticket was extremely easy as we simply scanned the codes on the e-ticket at the turnstiles.
Inside the show theatre there was only one small stall selling a few drinks and a very limited amount of food (like popcorn for eg) so if you are wanting to eat something more substantial do this at Grand World before entering.
The show was a grand spectacle with 200 actors, amazing special effects, lighting and projection mapping to make the show come to life. The audio and music however was far too loud at times! (Even by Vietnam standards!)
The show lasted 45mins and was interesting throughout. All of the main important dialog at the beginning and end is also provided in English. The theatre has a large tiered seating stand that is not covered and seating is unreserved so get there early and pick a good spot. Our show on a Saturday night in January was less than half full so very easy to get a great seat only 15mins prior to the show starting. This ticket is well worth getting if you are planing on adding Grand World to your Phu Quoc itinerary.
Getting to the resort is very easy as free electric busses run to all major hotels on the West of the island (at roughly 20min intervals on Sat) and there is a lot of other free shows, instagramable spots and restaurants around the rather large site. There is also a nice free beach with a bar that you can easily access at the end of...

After 7pm, the whole place will turn into a theater, you will need to purchase the show ticket for entry. Read more⭐ One star for the (rude and overpriced) souvenir shop inside. I nearly bought a bag of black pepper as a souvenir gift, but the staff insisted that I pay in cash, while I pointed to her credit card machine on her desk as well as Google Translate on my phone. I said nevermind and started walking away, while she yelled at me in Vietnamese. Nice customer service, right? Thank goodness I didn't buy it here. Later I found the same item at half price at Grand World across the street. No photo of the shop in question; there are only two inside.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five stars for the architecture and thoughtfulness behind the Vietnam culture...
