VERY BAD. I had a terrible experience within the Arcades Shopping Mall premises that almost RUINED A FRIEND'S MARRIAGE PROPOSAL. So I HATE this place.
My friend was about to propose marriage to his then girlfriend, upstairs near the escalators. So he asked me to take a few pictures of the moment using a simple digital camera. We picked a place that enabled us to take pictures without any store appearing in the background. He got down on his knee and he popped the question. At the same time I was snapping away on the digital camera taking as many pics as I could and still ensuring that nothing appeared in the background except the car park and open sky.
Even after doing so, a man coming from the Sikale deco direction, approached us, started harassing us, asked if we had a permit for taking pics there and threatened to confiscate the camera. Of course we had no permit so we complied and stopped our photoshoot.
Even after offering to show him all the pics we took in order to prove they were not infringing any store owners rights, he still insisted on getting the camera because we had no permit.
But after a while of chatting and trying to reason with him, I asked him a question that he answered in the most arongant manner. I asked him if it is also forebiden for one to take a selfie or a pic using a cellphone, he said no. So I asked him further, 'if we put away this camera (the small digital camera we were using) and use a cellphone instead, will it be ok'? And he responded 'yes'. Baffled by his answer I asked him if he knows how powerful cellphone cameras have become nowadays?
And as if he suddenly realized how mind-blowing his arrogance was, he uttered his last words angrily issuing a last warning, as if to hide the shame he suddenly felt and walked away towards the Sikale back entrance.
IS THIS HOW A PLACE THAT DEALS WITH THE PUBLIC SHOULD TREAT ITS CLIENTS, I...

Read moreThank you very much for having heeded my review below that I made over 2 years ago and gave you two Stars at that time. Arcades Mall is now, arguably, the most beautiful and coziest Mall in the Zambia! Happy to now increase my Star Rating to 4. I reserve 1 star for one specific concerning reason - PLEASE, AS A MATTER OF URGENT PUBLIC AND MOTORIST SAFETY, CONSIDER INCREASE THE WIDTH OF THE DANGEROUSLY HIGH AND NARROW HUMPS ON THE NEW ACCESS ROAD TO ARCADES MALL FROM DANNY PULE ROAD. VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY SMALL LOW CARS, ARE GETTING DAMAGES UNDERNEATH, AS EVIDENT FROM VISIBLE SCRATCHES ON THE HUMPS IN QUESTION. QUICKLY CONSIDER EITHER MAKING THOSE HUMPS WIDER TO ALLOW VEHICLE GO OVER THEM SMOOTHLY OR COMPLETELY REMOVE AND REPLACE THEM WITH VEHICLE FRIENDLY METAL ONES LIKE THOSE FOUND AT EAST PARK MALL (SEE ATTACHED IMAGES FOR ALTERNATIVE RECOMMENDED HUMPS).
Limited shopping options at this mall. The mall has largely been negatively affected by limited and restrictive access to Great East Road. The Mall Manageable need to quickly work closely with the Local Authority to redesign and give adequate eased access to the mall - both to the front and rear. Otherwise the mall may, in the long run, be deserted or have to be redesigned to suit office spaces (e.g. plumbing works), especially given the proximity of East Park Mall and Manda Hill, both of which have superlatively...
